As a youth pastor, coach, and co-author of 21 books(most of them for teens)I highly recommend this book to every parent, every youth pastor, every youth leader, every teacher, and every coach. It was refreshingly "real". I read this book from cover to cover one evening and then I shared it with my wife and all of my youth leaders. I have also purchased extra copies to share with any of the parents of teens in our youth group who may want to read it. It is about time that someone dealt with the real issues that teens are dealing with without all the fluff that you usually find in a book geared towards teens.

As the parent of a teenager, I devoured this book! I was looking for answers and I found them. I read parts of it to my husband and others parts to my son and it helped us all to gain new perspectives. This book deals with real issues like peer pressure, sex, communication, and conflict and it helped me understand my son's world and the challenges he faces.

As a youth worker, teen mentor, and mother of a teenager in the not too distant past, I have read just about every book out there on today's teens. I recommend this book as one of the best! T. Suzanne Eller's book does what no other book does-takes you inside the minds of real teens. Through in-depth interviews, she asks the questions every parents wants to ask-but can't. The answers reveal why teens sometimes feel they can't share their world with their parents, how parents can improve their communication with their teens, and whether teens feel "safe" telling their parents when they've made a mistake. Her insights are fresh, inspiring, and refreshingly real, inviting adults to look not only at the lives of their teens but into their lives as well.

I plan to recommend this book to all my friends as well as those who work with youth. This book is a rare gem and a must-read for anyone involved with teens!

Some believe it's almost impossible to bridge the gap between adults and teens. But In Real Issues Real Teens, Suzanne offers parents practical, and Christian-based principles for bringing the two generations together. Through her own transparency as a parent, her personal work with teens, and through true, "live" interviews, Suzanne lets the reader hear the hurts, joys, and frustrations from a teen perspective. From sexuality to spirituality, she offers frank advice and communication that allow any parent to climb inside their teen's thoughts. A fearful ride? Maybe. But not an impossible one. And somehow, this author makes the trip easier. I love Suzanne's compassionate, yet authoritative manner. Where was this book when my kids were teens? This is a book for parents, youth workers, grandparents, and anyone who works with or knows teens. Suzanne's love and passion for teenagers show on every page.

If you want help in understanding and helping your teen, read this book. I've read so many books in the past year on teens, parenting, depression, etc. and I gained some knowledge from them. But this book ALONE had the MOST helpful information on the best way for me to interact with my daughter, to listen to her, to understand more about her and to help her make better choices. I love the prayers and suggestions of how to pray for our children. It's an excellent book and I'd recommend it to anyone with a young child, pre-teen, teen or grandchild. It's been so helpful.

We've raised three teens with one still to go and have always wondered if we would ever understand their lives. This book makes that possible. Real Issues, Real Teens is a joy to read and is opening our eyes about teen issues and what teens need to thrive. My wife and I are putting the tools to work that are included in this powerful book and we're rejoicing at the impact it is making in our relationship with our son. Every parent should read this book!

Thank you Suzie!

Suzie Eller has given parents an inside peak, a glimpse behind the curtain of a teen's life. A must read for every parent, teacher, and youth worker! Having raised two teens already and one more to go, I think Suzie's writing is so practical, so helpful and so timely! In today's world it's tough to be a teen and Real Issues, Real Teens just made it a little easier!
