5.0 out of 5 stars Read Life Begins After High School, May 5, 2000
By A Customer
Bruce & Stan have a winner in this book on how to cope with most every situation that young people face upon leaving the comfort of the nest. They give practical, down to earth advice on surviving that first semester in college, choosing friends, living on a budget and many other interesting situations. This book is written in an easy to read and wonderfully humorous manner. Highly recommended reading for any high school student and their parents.

2.0 out of 5 stars "real life", March 3, 2007

I received this book as a gift from a neighbor, being that I'm only mere months away from embarking to college. Now, I am not a Christian, and being that this book was a gift, feel as if I received it highly disguised.

I read this book last night for some late night reading, and-- although this book certainly can be helpful for a select few close-minded Christians, I was amused yet offended by the cliché and narrow-minded perspective that these authors had of life in high school and of college.

For instance, what I found most laughable by far were these people's ideas of friendships. I can understand their perspective of kids needing to find new friends after high school (and that it overall does not matter), but come on. Not everyone has a group of friends as clichéd as the ones in sitcoms or teeny-bopper movies, and Christians are not the only good influences that a person can receive throughout their life.
The fact that these people claim that it is only plausible to seek friends of a Christian nature and that others should be befriended only on the account of conversion, is nothing short of idiocy. My Christian friends similarly laugh at this book's narrow-minded, hackneyed nature.

Furthermore, these authors discuss topics in which they admit to having no knowledge of, which only furthers their lack of credibility and their dull, lackluster humor.

Overall, buy this book if you want a Christian read even other Christians find idiotic, or desire to be brainwashed by authors who clearly have not lived in the real world.
