More About the Author

Joe Perrone Jr. worked as a sportswriter for the Passaic-Clifton, NJ, Herald News, as well as a freelance advertising copywriter. Joe was also a professional fly-fishing guide for ten years in the Catskill Mountains of New York, and has had several fly-fishing short stories published in the Mid Atlantic Fly Fishing Guide. Both Opening Day and Twice Bitten are actually set in Roscoe, NY, the small Upstate New York fishing village where Joe was a guide. The author is perhaps best known for his Matt Davis Mystery Series, which includes As the Twig is Bent, Opening Day, and Twice Bitten (the most recent in the series). Joe's first novel, Escaping Innocence (A Story of Awakening), was published in 2008, and is an evocative coming-of-age novel set in the turbulent '60s. In addition to his four novels, Joe has authored two non-fiction works, A "Real" Man's Guide to Divorce (First, you bend over and...), published in 2009 and Gone Fishin' with Kids (How to Take Your Kid Fishing and Still be Friends), co-authored with Manny Luftglass, and published in 1997.

As the Twig is Bent is currently available as an audio book distributed through Audible.com. Two other Matt Davis Mysteries, Opening Day and Twice Bitten will be available in audio books later in 2013, as well as Escaping Innocence, which is currently being recorded and will become available in July. The audio books will be distributed by ACX.com through Amazon.com, Audible.com, and iTunes.
A fourth Matt Davis Mystery, Broken Promises, is scheduled for print and Ebook publication in July 2013, and will also become available later in the year as an audio book.

Opening Day was recently awarded an Indie B.R.A.G. Medallion, and in 2011, As The Twig Is Bent was translated into Portuguese as Pau que nasce torto by Rafa Lombardino of Word Awareness, Inc. of Santee, CA. Plans are underway to translate Opening Day and Twice Bitten into Portuguese in the very near future. All of Joe's books are available in paperback or in Kindle editions on Amazon.com.

Joe lives in Western North Carolina with his wife, Becky, and the couple's two cats, Callie and Cassie. The author enjoys hearing from his readers, and can be reached with comment and questions via Email at: joetheauthor@joeperronejr.com or by visiting his website at www.joeperronejr.com

5.0 out of 5 stars A laughing matter May 8, 2009
Format:Paperback
Seldom has there been a book that dealt with divorce that could make us laugh--until now! "A `Real' Man's Guide to Divorce" is just what the doctor ordered. Written in an acerbic, wry style reminiscent of Woody Allen, this book not only recounts some universal "war stories" related to its subject, but offers sage advice guaranteed to give a man the leg up in a post-matrimonial conflict. Buy this book for yourself if you are facing divorce; give it to a friend in a similar situation; or just buy it for the laughs--and there are plenty. Good job, Joe, wish I'd read it 20 years ago!

Going through divorce is one of the critical life events, which can be the most difficult time of the life. As I heard from friends,
it can easily break anyone and it can be especially hard for the children. So it was interesting and entertaining to read this humorously written advice from a man's point of view.

This book is written in a humorous, sometimes ironic, easy-to-read style.
Perfect for any man or father preparing for a divorce.

If you're in the same situation, get prepared and eliminate all your doubts and fears. This will at least help you to feel more comfortable and confident. Most important: You won't loose your sense of humour by being guided through all kind of possible confrontations.
This book and Perrone's writing style will make you smile again.

Life is not fair! Just make the best out of it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read for men or women, married or divorced. March 3, 2009
Format:Paperback
I'm a married woman, so you wouldn't think this type of book would be for someone like me. But since I have a very good sense of humor and don't offend easily, I loved it!

I like this author, too. He attacks the serious topic of divorce with a sense of humor and writes as if he's having a face-to-face conversation with the reader. With every page I turned, I could feel a growing group of imaginary men over my shoulder yelling, "Heck, yeah!" and "You tell 'em, Joe!"
