It's been a few years since we last heard from Christoper Williams. While no one ever disputed his vocal skills, he suffered from being in the wrong place at the wrong time. When his debut "ADVENTURES IN PARADISE" dropped in 1988, BOBBY BROWN was the thing. When he dropped his sophmore release "CHANGES" (Probably one of THE best and most slept on R&B albums of the last 10-15 years)on UPTOWN RECORDS, he was lost on a label that already featured MARY J. BLIGE, and JODECI . The third release "NOT A PERFECT MAN" suffered from poor promotion and (in my opinion)a bad choice of singles. Well now we have "REAL MEN DO" on independent label RENEGADE RECORDS. I must say I was surprised at how good his voice sounded. Over the years, personal problems had taken away from the quality of his voice. Now he seems to have his problems behind him. The comparisons to TEDDY PENDERGRASS are inevitable, but his sound is all his own. Standout songs like "MARY" (a mid-tempo song that seems to be about a girl......listen closely and you'll see it's about ....similar to D'ANGELO's "BROWN SUGAR"), "WHERE WOULD YOU GO", "VIOLIN", and "REAL MEN DO" set the mood of the album. Another song that is refreshing is "WILD CHILD" that definitely has an old school feel to it. The only down point to this cd is the first song "DANCE" (feat. DJ QUIK & HI-C). The song just doesn't fit the format of the album and is actually the only uptempo song on the project. Also DJ QUIK and HI-C's raps are annoying. Fans of CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS won't be disappointed, and new listeners will DEFINITELY become fans. Play this cd when you're w/your significant other, lay back, and let the evening flow.

I didn't know CW had released new CD's since his 1st one because I never heard anyone give him airplay. I always wondered what happened to him until I saw/heard him sing in the play, 'Men Cry In the Dark', then it all came back to me! His voice is so rich & smooth, it feels like a nice long hug. If you haven't heard Real Men Do, you're depriving yourself. I like the entire CD - the song 'Somebody' sometimes makes me cry. Glad CW is back strong & I will certainly keep track of him from now on!!!!

Christopher is back and thank God. He has a true rich voice of R&B. Songs like Wild Child give us that old taste of R&B that is very much missed. Mary, another song, is a stand out song and if you think it is about a girl then think again. Remember Rick James and his song Mary Jane? If you do, then enough said.
Christopher, please do not stay away long again. We need a R&B singer to put us in that love making mood again.

This album is without a doubt a classic. I usually don't write reviews but I knew this album would be slept on since it doesn't get the airplay of other watered down "r&b" artists.

Of the four albums that Chris has done this one rates #2 in my opinion behind "Not a Perfect Man", but not far behind.

This album is for SLOW JAM LOVERS period. The ballads on this album are beyond words, songs like "Somebody", "Where would you go", and U Girl set the tone. But the revolutionary track is "Violin". On this song Chris is symbolizing a violin as sort of a human being. The violin experiences a love at first sight experience with its buyer and throughout the song Chris is expressing how the violin feels for this individual who now owns it. It sounds crazy, I know but you have to hear this song its beautiful.

Like a previous reviewer wrote, true fans of Chris will definately be pleased especially after the long layoff, and newcomers, if they give him a chance, will be instant fans.

My last words to all are "Buy this Cd", "Buy this Cd", "Buy this Cd". You won't be dissapointed support real r&b, just because you're not on the radio or making videos doesn't mean the artist can't sing or have a killer cd.

PEACE!

First, I would like to say..welcome back Chris! Your fans missed you!.
This CD is without a doubt a treasure. His vocals and singing style has really grown and matured.
He's still got it. Still has that smoothing soothing sexy voice. People use to compare his voice to Teddy Pendergrass..not anymore.
If you read between the lines, Chris has had some battles to deal with..we've been there Chris! But he's battled them and he's come back to us....strong!!!!
If you don't have this CD..buy it! buy it! buy it!.
The only downside,..that's not really a downside, but the CD ends with a latin style love song. It a nice song..just doesn't fit the groove of this CD.
What really hit me like a ton of bricks was the track "Somebody".
I think Chris has expressed the feelings of all the single people who are tired of being single.
"Somebody" is a true testimonial of the pains of being single. If this song doesn't pull at your heart strings..then you have no heart.
This song hit me very hard..and very deep. It's a very beatiful ballad.
Welcome back Chris!..you done good!!!!!! You CD is great!!
Please don't stay away so long again Chris. Your fans will miss you!
WE LOVE YOU CHRIS!!!.

AS SURE AS I AM WRITING THIS I HAVE SIGNED UP TO HIS FANCLUB. I CAN'T BELIEVE HIS SONG "FLOW:",WILDCHILD,SOMEBODY,VIOLIN, DANCE FOR ME ETC. THIS ALBUM IS A PLATINUM PLUS EFFORT. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME CHECK OUT MY REVIEW OF HIS REAL MEN DO CD AT HIS OFFICIAL WEBSITE. I HAVE PURCHASED FOUR OF HIS CD'S WITHIN THE LAST MONTH AND NONE COMPARE TO HIS LATEST. REAL MEN DO. HE IS NOT ONLY DROP DEAD GEORGOUS, HE'S HUMAN, HUMBLE, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY GOD FEARING. THE SONG"REAL MEN DO IS" IS HEART WRENCHING. I CAN'T IMAGINE HAVING A MAN THAT CAN SING AND IS GEORGOUS AT THE SAME TIME HE IS THE ULTIMATE PACKAGE. THIS CD IS A MUST HAVE.

This is definitely Christopher Williams' best work to date. It is neo-classic soul at its best. It starts off with Dance which is a wonderful dance song. The album is pretty much mellow relaxing music. A great pick for those who like slow jams. Somebody, Real Men Do, Mary, and Flow are intoxicating. If you don't have this album, you need to get it and support real R&B.
