Fun Stuff,

Pity the also rans that vanished under the heavyweights like Oasis, The Charlatans and Happy Mondays.
The Real People made a tasty concoction of Liverpudlian power pop full of chiming guitars and catchy choruses. There are vast number of great songs on this CD: "Window Pane", "Truth", "Everyday is the Same", "Open up Your Mind". My favorite track is "I Can't Wait", really has a terrific chorus. "Words" is definitely a great variation on the requisite slower track. "Another Day" is a perfect finisher. There is so much great early 90s Britmusic out there. Plunk down the 99 cents CDs like this and others are commanding and explore. You won't be disappointed.

I had this in college and lost it (along with all my other cassettes) somewhere along life's journey.
now I am trying to reclaim some of those lost tapes via CD )which I am sure I will shortly have to replace with another technology). I re-bought all the Happy Mondays, a Stone Roses CD (the wrong one- dammit), and a number of other CDs. Then I remembered that obscure group I liked (they were rather obscure in my circles even back then). What was the name? oh yeah, Real People, or is it THE Real People? anyway, I just got it a couple of days ago and havent stopped listening to it. not a single weak track in the entire track record. hard to pick best ones, maybe: Window Pane, Everday is the Same, OPen up Your Mind, She. Very Good Brit Rock/Pop. Very Beatle-esque!! in a good way. "Oasis-lite" is probably a good description, but then again they preceded Oasis.... Ever hear of Cosmic Rough Riders? they sound like them too (Real People was first too). slightly psychedelic Brit rock/pop. a better more "poppy" Church. One of those groups that you cant believe wasnt bigger. good stuff. la-la-la

For lovers of early 90's pop/rock; this disc should be in your collection. Great songs that stick in your head long after you hear them. There are easy 5-6 great singles on this album, and the album as a whole has nary a weak link. Best tracks; Window Pane, The Truth, For You, In Your Hands, She, and Words. If this is available at a discount price (used); gobble it up.

Super 90's flashback!,

The best music for lounging around the cloudy college living quarters (or imagining those good days back). To see them live was far better. Their sound is really meant for a solid hall. "In Your Hands" is even sweeter live. I saw them mid 90s in Madison, WI.
CG and TGs voice amalgamation awakens the endorphins. Vocals have the perfect balance of scruff. Music is great Britpop fun, adventurous, nostalgic... the whole lot. |
