5.0 out of 5 stars Real Pool 2: Better than real !...
Real Pool 2 is the best game that I have ever played! That may just seem like an opinion to you but ALL of my friends think so too! And its not just that I really like pool either. It really is better than real. I could play that game for hours at a time! I play it almost every day and I am still trying to beat it. It is chalanging so it makes for a lot of hours of play...

Real Pool 2 features 4 games: 8-Ball, 9-Ball, Straight Pool and One Pocket. You can play pool in 4 settings: the Basement, the Championship Room, Le Palace and Lucky's Tavern. You have the option of playing against one of many computer opponents. Since each player is only represented by a face and a name, which opponent you pick doesn't make much difference. Your opponent's pool cue floats in mid-air during game play, which makes it feel like you're playing against the invisible man. The game's graphics are good, but the background music does get annoying after a while. The Championship Room is my favorite place to play pool, since there is NO background music in that setting. There are two displays: the billiard balls in play are shown in the bottom left corner, and a play by play of the action is displayed in the bottom right corner. So, if a ball is sunk in either lower corner, you don't get to see that shot. Another component of play I don't like is the fact that you only get 1 minute to make a shot. Worst of all, the game has frozen up or crashed a couple of times, usually near the end of a game. For its low price, you do get your money's worth, but the game still leaves something to be desired.

Take it from me, Real Pool 2 is the best pool simulater there is.

2.0 out of 5 stars Graphically nice, Performance Awful., February 22, 2004
This review is from: Real Pool 2 (CD-ROM)
The reason this gets 2 not one star is that the graphics are crisp and clean. The music is completely obnoxious however you won't have to worry about it too much because the game crashes like mad, at least for me it did. The number of games available are pretty expansive and the gameplay itself is fairly solid. The animation though is slow and at times laggy. It doesn't have an authentic feel, the sound of the balls hitting is hollow and the physics seem just off. It feels like your hitting the ball across a wet soggy table. I'd stay away from it at all costs there are better pool games out there.

If your curious about hardware issues my system when having the crashing issues is a P4 1.9 with 640 RAM and ATI Radeon 8500LE.
