4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Man is Hard to Find
I liked this author's book A Married Man so much that I ordered The Real Thing and several more of her titles from Amazon UK. This book was a fun read and the settings give the reader a glimpse of a different way of life. I think a bit more editing would have helped the plot flow more smoothly, but the story of old love vs new love, family secrets revealed and the likable...

1.0 out of 5 stars Rooting against the heroine
I have enjoyed other books by this author but the main character in this one is a selfish, childish brat. I wish I had given up at the beginning but I read on hoping the heroine would learn and grow. She didn't. By the end of the book I was actively rooting against her. Unfortunately she did not get hit by a bus.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Real Thing, June 28, 2009

Loved the book and the characters. A little disappointed in the ending as far as Patrick goes. To suddenly make him "like his father" was a cop out since he had shown no signs prior to that point.
