A Good Man is Hard to Find,
By
This review is from: Real Thing (Paperback)
I liked this author's book A Married Man so much that I ordered The Real Thing and several more of her titles from Amazon UK. This book was a fun read and the settings give the reader a glimpse of a different way of life. I think a bit more editing would have helped the plot flow more smoothly, but the story of old love vs new love, family secrets revealed and the likable characters made it worth reading.

Loved the book and the characters. A little disappointed in the ending as far as Patrick goes. To suddenly make him "like his father" was a cop out since he had shown no signs prior to that point.

Rooting against the heroine,

I have enjoyed other books by this author but the main character in this one is a selfish, childish brat. I wish I had given up at the beginning but I read on hoping the heroine would learn and grow. She didn't. By the end of the book I was actively rooting against her. Unfortunately she did not get hit by a bus.
