Even though Jesus is that real thing they sing about, in another sense, pureNRG is becoming the real thing. Since signing with Fervent Records in 2007, the group has now released five albums when you count this one, which may be their best yet. They have a polished pop sound courtesy of producer Rob Hawkins, who also plays a slew of instruments, and vocal producer Mark Hammond. Both have done an outstanding job.

Though this is similar to what they have done before, you can hear a growing maturity in their style and lyrics. It doesn't hurt that they chose "Live to Worship," a song that Scott Krippayne helped write, and "Sweet Jesus," which includes Matthew West in the credits. Both of these songs plus "Overwhelmed" move the group into modern worship territory.

A little added heft in the guitar tracks is evident on songs like the catchy "Radio," which affirms that individually and together we can change the world. "Savior" flirts with an urban groove before it gives way to a bright chorus where they seek to introduce the listener to Jesus. "Cover of a Magazine" is a song that needed to be written. It recognizes that none of us can measure up to the artificial perfection that we find on those glossy covers.

The CD also includes three sing-a-long tracks at the end. These songs have been stripped of some of the vocal tracks so that anyone can join in.

This group is on track in fulfilling their clearly defined mission statement, which you could summarize as being a Godly influence and positive role models for their generation.

Ok, i'll admit it. I am a 25 year old male youth pastor....and I love Pure NRG. Their music is undeniably catchy and fun and the songs will stick in your head like cement.
But the biggest thing I think Pure NRG has going for it isn't just their catchy pop sound or their fun dance moves (they are neat to watch perform live), but its their undeniably positive and God-glorifying lyrics. "The Real Thing" features songs about having a God-centered life (Its all about you), Finding ultimate value in Jesus (The Real Thing), Forgiveness of others when we are wronged (Before the sun goes down), the list goes on. As a Bible college grad I am sickened at times by so many so-called Christian bands barely even mentioning God and its great to have a fun group I can recommend and play at youth group that really stays focused on Christ.

WOW!! I absolutely love purenrg. they are a great kids band, and i really enjoy listening to them. i have to say, i am a bit impressed that i am the first person to write a review on this album. this is my favorite album.

Oh my gosh! I found this band a year ago while looking for cool contemporary Christian bands. I got their CD Here We Go Again (which is by the way another AWESOME one). The Real Thing really blew me away! I got it for my 12th birthday and I was so happy! Here's my thoughts on the songs:
1. Radio - an awesome song! It's fun to dance to and I think it has real meaning in it.
2. All About You - this song really gets me jumpin'! A great song of praise that I think everyone should be singing.
3. Before the Sun Goes Down - this song is about forgiving others no matter what. Very pretty and very meaningful!
4. The Real Thing - just the like the whole album, this song ROCKS! I love it!
5. Savior - I didn't like this one at first, but now I do. It's cool.
6. Live to Worship - a very nice song. It sounds like something we would sing at VBS or something.
7. Sweet Jesus - aw, so pretty...My mom loves this one. It's about how Jesus will always be with us and we don't need to worry about anything!
8. Overwhelmed - this is my all-time favorite song on the CD and probably like the story of my life. I totally recommend!
9. Cover of a Magazine - this is great for people who just don't feel good enough about themselves and want to be what they see on the cover of a magazine. "I can see through those pages, it's all just lights and makeup, so I'll just be who I am!"
10. Can You Handle it - this is a song for standing up for yourself. Really great, I like it.
The other three songs are sing-alongs to songs like Here We Go Again. I sang it! I love it!
Any tweens (OR teens!) MUST GET THIS CD! Trust me, I know a good CD when I hear one!

pureNRG is a GREAT Christian group that always keeps their songs fun but wholesome. Their uplifting lyrics blend perfectly with their catchy tunes. Their dance moves and flips are amazing, and The Real Thing is their best CD yet. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

This is a good, fun cd for kids. It's a mix of different songs. Footloose I was sad was on it because the movie was against Christians, although I'm not compltetly sure of the details, but besides that, if you're a tween/teen girl, I reccomend it.

I defenetly love this CD! It is sooooo awesome! Kids will love listening to this in the car, or at home. As a kid, let me tell you, this is an awesome CD.

I gave this to my niece and the other one to my other niece. They shared both and really enjoyed them both.
