Clear exposition of a challenging subject, March 2, 2009
This review is from: Real-Time Embedded Multithreading Using ThreadX and MIPS (Paperback)
Developing real-time multithreading applications that are fast, compact and low power is at best a challenge. Lamie gives the reader a clear introduction the subject, focusing on what the RTOS can do for you. The example code in each chapter is built around TheadX, one of the most popular RTOSs, as well as a generic MIPS architecture, but the techniques are universally applicable. The 40-page case study in the last chapter--with all code on the companion disk--brings it all together as the reader builds a real-time video/audio/motion (VAM) recording system. The last third of the book is a complete ThreadX reference manual. If you're new to the subject, this book is valuable; if you also plan to use ThreadX, it's invaluable.
