3.0 out of 5 stars Love Glory, but this story .....
I love my girl, Glorianna St. Clair, but this story just didn't do it for me. I loved the connection between Glory and Israel. They are totally hot together, but I felt that by enjoying them, I was being disloyal to Blade. LOL. Go figure that one, huh? I love Jeremy Blade and wish there was more of him in this book. I felt cheated out of the whole Aggie getting Casanova...

5.0 out of 5 stars REAL VAMPIRES ROCK, January 6, 2009

This review is from: Real Vampires Don't Diet (Glory St. Claire, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you are new to the REAL VAMPIRE books, witty dialogue, fascinating snippets of history and a captivating cast of characters are just a few of the reasons all four books are a must read! Each stands alone, but read one and you'll be hooked.

If you are already a Glory fan, REAL VAMPIRES DON'T DIET is populated with familiar friends and foes while adding a sinister new villain with the ability to freeze victims into living statues.

When a family emergency forces Glory's boyfriend, Blade, to fly off to Europe on New Year's Eve, she expects to spend a quiet evening watching chick flicks. A phone call from pop star Ray Caine, a newly turned vampire who Glory has taken under her wing, causes her to rush to his lake house, where a party is in full swing. Alcohol is like poison to vampires. Ray is feeling depressed and well on the way to being drunk when Glory arrives.

Needing a safe distraction, Glory agrees to go for a midnight boat ride with Ray. Unfortunately, their trip puts them in the path of a Siren who has been cursed by the Goddess of Night. To break the curse, the Siren must deliver three vampires to the Goddess. Fortunately, even Sirens swoon under the spell of Ray's love songs, which enables him to make a deal - Ray and Glory have until the next full moon to deliver three replacement vampires to the Siren or they will be sacrificed to the Goddess. WORSE, they are now forcibly compelled to answer the Siren's call. Regardless of what they are doing, how far away they go, day or night, when the Siren calls it is impossible for Glory and Ray not to respond.

With the clock ticking, Glory and Ray must pose as an engaged couple to fool an old enemy, the head of the Energy Vampires, with hopes of luring him and couple of his cohorts into the Siren's web. Energy Vampires are the "human" equivalent to drug pushers. Having three fewer on the streets of Austin would be a good thing and solve their problem. Only the fickle Goddess decides that one of the sacrificial vampires must be Casanova - the brother of Flo, Glory's friend and roommate. If the situation weren't bad enough, Glory never found the opportunity to tell Blade about the `pretend' engagement to Ray, and he returns from Europe to find Glory and Ray in a very compromising situation.

Will Glory find a way to satisfy the Siren's demands, save Flo's brother and win Blade's forgiveness? Don't miss this exciting and fun adventure with Glory St. Claire!

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Vampires don't diet, March 11, 2011

This review is from: Real Vampires Don't Diet (Glory St. Claire, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
I love Glory St. Claire. The story lines have unfolded exactly as they might in real life. With the exception of being 400+ years old and caught between many men, she makes me laugh. I love that she is not a skinny bitchy vampire. Glory has makes a conscience decision to be a good person and do the right thing. I love her and wish her lovelife would settle down. After all, who doesn't want a rich vampire as a husband.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love Glory, but this story ....., February 3, 2010

They are totally hot together, but I felt that by enjoying them, I was being disloyal to Blade. LOL. Go figure that one, huh? I love Jeremy Blade and wish there was more of him in this book. I felt cheated out of the whole Aggie getting Casanova thing. There is a wild storm raging and the next thing you know Aggie is human again walking in with WIll. Wait did I miss something? What happened when she got Casanova and the other two hot vamps? I don't know I guess I was just let down. There wasn't much story going on here. Hope the next book is better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Real Vampires are Hot!, August 8, 2009

This review is from: Real Vampires Don't Diet (Glory St. Claire, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was another fun book in the Real Vampires series by Gerry Bartlett. Once again it was HOT! This time there was passion not just between Glory and Blade but between her and Ray too. It was fun to add another hottie to the mix. If I were here, I'm not sure who I would choose. I liked all of the action in the story and the addition of the Siren character. And I really liked the ending (although I don't want to give it away). I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Real Vampires Hate Their Thighs, although I have to wait until February, when it comes out!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite book in the series yet!!! 6 STARS!!!, May 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Real Vampires Don't Diet (Glory St. Claire, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
As I said in my review of the last book, these books just keep getting better and better! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. I didn't put this book down once... literally. I started and didn't put it down until I was finished. I was actually sad when I realized I was at the last page!

Glory has a huge accomplishment in this book and it was exciting that she was the one to make it happen. She's growing... slowly but surely! Her "relationship" with Isreal Caine is an interesting part of the story and tests her relationship with Blade! (That's who I'm rooting for at this point!) We have super steamy hot lovin', bad guys, action and a whole lotta sexy vampires. (And a pretty cute labradoodle!) This book would be good as a stand alone but if you read from the first book, you get to know the characters and their quirks! This whole series is just fantastic and would be a great addition to any library!

4.0 out of 5 stars This series is getting GOOD -, January 22, 2009
This review is from: Real Vampires Don't Diet (Glory St. Claire, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
It took me a while to get through the first novel in this series, but I went back and read the second and the third despite that. Each one endeared me to Glory and her friends more and more. Now that Ms. Bartlett has released the fourth book I can honestly say I'm hooked!

The author really knows how to set the steam factor to high - She threw in a vampire love triangle! I'm a huge Blade fan, but I've gotta say that I was definitely swooning for Mr. Israel Caine too. I'm really anxious to see what'll happen next.

I say, "Keep 'em comin'!"

5.0 out of 5 stars engaging urban fantasy, January 10, 2009
This review is from: Real Vampires Don't Diet (Glory St. Claire, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
For centuries old vampire Glory St. Claire is having a bit of a hissy fit because she is spending New Year's Eve in Austin by herself. Her boyfriend Jeremy Blade is traipsing off on some sort of rescue mission as his daughter was allegedly abducted by radicals. She is not quite by herself though as her telepathic dog Valdez tells her to go get a life when she plans for them to share a special bonding evening with chick flicks from hell (his not so subtle thoughts).

Infant vampire rock superstar Israel Caine invites Glory to a party he hosts; she knows he is drinking, a horrific error for a turned vamp so she rushes over to save him from himself. They go out on a boat ride on his vessel the Star Snoops on Lake Travis only to rescue Aglaophonos, call her Aggie a siren. Aggie informs Glory that she owes Circe three male vampires to break a curse and now has two captured albeit one is female and can only serve as a hostage. Caine, trying to keep Glory safe, declares she is his fiancée which upsets Blade while Glory persuades Aggie to cut a deal in which she and Caine will bring to her the three vampires; she figures how hard can it be to find and capture three evil vamps in Austin.

The fourth Gloriana Real Vampire saga (see ... HAVE CURVES, LIVE LARGE and GET LUCK) is an engaging urban fantasy filled with action and amusing chick lit asides. Glory is terrific as she struggles with a way out of the fiasco that Aggie has her in without alienating Circe. Fans will enjoy this fun lighthearted romp as Glory needs to deliver three vamps to lift a curse before she becomes a victim.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Glory Book!, January 9, 2009
This review is from: Real Vampires Don't Diet (Glory St. Claire, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Glory St. Clair is back for more hilarious vampire misadventures.

Glory's plans for a romantic New Year's Eve fizzle out like a flat bottle of champagne. Her on-again, off-again hunky highlander boyfriend, Jeremy Blade, must rescue his supposed daughter. Dateless and ticked, Glory decides to spend the evening watching chick flicks to the annoyance of her trusty guard dog Valdez. But even these plans go awry when she learns newbie vampire and rock star Ray Caine is getting drunk. Knowing the booze will lead to the hang-over from Hades, Glory rushes off to Ray's wild soiree to save him.

A nocturnal boat ride with Ray on Lake Travis turns awry when a hideous siren named Aggie lures them with her call and then paralyzes them. Aggie needs to deliver three vampires to Circe in order to break a curse. Ray manages to sweeten up Aggie by singing to her. Now he and Glory must find three replacement male vamps for Aggie or risk the wrath of Circe. They're determined to deliver some bad vamps (readers of the other Real Vampire books will recall the evil energy vamps). To do so, Ray and Glory enter into a faux engagement.

The fourth installment of the Real Vampires series is every bit as fun and fast-paced as the previous books. New readers will catch on quickly and will want to snatch up the other books as well.
