Review

"Glory, Glory, Hallelujah! I love this series!" Kerrelyn Sparks, New York Times Bestselling author of Love at Stake series

"There is a little something for every reader in this story: sex, laughter and romance." The Romance Readers Connection

From the Author

When I write about Glory St. Clair, I always put myself in her place--without the fangs, of course. So when she had demon trouble in the previous book in this series, Real Vampires Have More to Love, I had a feeling Lucifer himself would come to call. And if he wanted to lure her over to dark side, what could he offer a full-figured woman like Glory? Like me, Glory would love to be a perfect size six. Seems like every woman she knows has achieved that goal. Of course in the fantasy world of vampires, sirens and demons, perfect figures are the norm--except for our heroine. So Glory's always dreamed of being a six herself. But with her hips and thighs? Not happening. I had a lot of fun imagining how she'd react to that offer. Guess you'll have to read the book to see whether she takes the deal or not.

More About the Author

Gerry Bartlett lives in Texas, halfway between Houston and Galveston. Her antique business on the historic Strand on the island is open again after it went under eight feet of water during Hurricane Ike. When she's not treasure hunting for the store, she loves heading to the Texas capitol of Austin where she imagines her vampire Glory St.Clair of the Real Vampire series has her own antique business and vintage clothing shop. You can read more about Gerry and her series at gerrybartlett.com and find links to her fan sites there. She's shown here in her back yard with dog Jet, a whippet. He's her alarm clock and literary muse, keeping her company when she's at the computer. Gerry loves to hear from readers and you can reach her from her web site or by snail mail at P.O. Box 101, League City, TX 77574-0101. She previously wrote as Lynn McKay and you might find her Regency historical available on Amazon too.

When life is going well for Gloriana St. Clair (better known as Glory to her vampire friends) you know trouble is just around the corner. In this case, trouble starts when the Vampire Council orders Glory to shut down her store Vintage Vamp's Emporium because it's attracting too much attention from the outside world. Her personal life has also gone to hell in a handbasket--literally. Her on again-off again relationship with yummy Vampire Jeremy Blade goes South when he learns that Glory had a fling with her former bodyguard Valdez while she was possessed by a demon. Could matters possibly get worse?

This is Glory - of course it can!

When Glory receives an opportunity to mentor a recently turned vampire, she takes the job hoping to impress the Vampire Council. After all, Glory has experience mentoring new vamps (e.g., rock star Israel Caine). Her new charge, Penny, is a young brainiac with no fashion sense whatsoever. Glory has her hands full protecting this newly made vampire.

Glory's problems worsen when Israel takes up drinking again, and then the devil himself makes an appearance. Lucifer offers Glory the one thing she's coveted for four hundred long years: the chance to be a size 6.

In the seventh installment of the Real Vampires series, Ms. Bartlett once again hits a home run. You can't help but love and admire Glory as she navigates the tricky lanes of her vampire world in Austin, TX. Readers new to the series need not worry as this book can easily be read as a standalone.

Real Vampires Don't Wear a Size Six will charm readers and keep them turning the pages until the very wonderful end. I highly recommend it.

Usually after this many books in a series the stories start to fall apart, get stagnant or get too over the top to be "believable". Not the case here. The familiar characters keep evolving and new characters are added to the mix in a very fun and "OMG!" kind of way. This, the 7th book in the Real Vampires series, is no different. It's just as LOL funny as the beginning of the series is. New demons are brought into the fold this time around. Bad guys yes but still very funny! On top of having to deal with them Glory also "gets to" mentor a new vampire who happens to be a bit too smart for her own good but is also a lot of fun. She and Glory have some funny moments and I hope she sticks around for the next book. There's much more Jerry in this installment and that makes me VERY happy! My only MINOR disappointment is towards the end. The big climax of the story seemed a little too easily wrapped up. That being said it took nothing away from the fantastic story or Glory's wonderfully snarkiness. I can't wait until April for the next book! HURRY UP APRIL!!!

Who knew Glory's life could get any weirder, well anyone who knows her. That's what makes this series so great and fun to read. You never know what crazy thing is going to invade Glory's life next and you can't wait to read on and see how she gets out of it this time.

Gerry Bartlett is a genius. She points out that nothing in life is perfect, even an undead life. For a fun little read I suggest this series to any woman with body issues. If Glory can do it, it somehow means we all can.

Great book and series. I love the setting and the characters. Just enough romance and good humor. Shame this series isn't more popular.
