Real World ASP.NET Programming: Best Practices and Fatal Traps goes far beyond the documentation to teach best ASP.Net development practices based on the author¿s real world experience. The emphasis is on helping developers do things correctly and avoid mistakes ¿ not on teaching ASP.Net in general. ASP.NET is a wonderful new enabling technology that allows developers to create business solutions much more effectively than ever before. However, there is room for improvement. The potholes and pitfalls related to these technologies are often not seen before you stumble. Real World ASP.NET Programming: Best Practices and Fatal Traps helps readers to avoiding such frustrations, In-depth coverage includes data handling, caching, JavaScript, user and server controls, distributed programming, configuration, and deployment.

Review

From the reviews:

"This book is intended to describe a number of best practice approaches for ASP.Net development, based on the practical experiences of its authors. … The text is well written and … thoroughly explains all the points and principles. Aimed at the intermediate to advanced ASP.Net developer, this book does exactly as its title suggests. It is a very good source of best practice material, which will be of use to almost anyone developing ASP.Net systems." (Jason Ross, Computer Bulletin, March, 2004)

"Real World ASP.NET Best Practices goes far beyond the documentation to teach ASP.NET development best practices … . The book’s emphasis is on helping developers perform tasks correctly and avoid mistakes … ." (DevDorado, Issue 3, 2003)

4.0 out of 5 stars Liked It. Very readable., August 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Real World ASP.NET Best Practices (Paperback)
I thought this book was well-written. It was exactly what I expected it to be. (It is certainly not for learning to code in .NET) What I was looking for was a book that said, "You might be doing it this way .. but here's why should do it this other way."

As a professional developer, I also appreciated the real-world examples. They really understand what its like in the work place, working with a team, the concepts of rolling into production, etc..

This is one of the very few computer books I have purchased where I thought it was worth it in the end. Good Job!

5.0 out of 5 stars Required Reading at our Company!, July 27, 2003
This review is from: Real World ASP.NET Best Practices (Paperback)
This books clearly explains some of the most ambiguous questions we had about ASP.NET. Jason A. Salas' review nicely summarizes the book and its value.

I found so many useful tips that as a supervisor of the web department at our company, I've made it required reading for all of my developers.

An Excellent resource for all ASP.NET developers!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Eye Opener, March 17, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Real World ASP.NET Best Practices (Paperback)
This book is MUST reading for any experienced .NET developer. It's the kind of book that leaves you saying,"Ohhh, now that makes sense". Of all the ASP.NET books in my library, it is the only one that has a chapter on using JavaScript. It is a well written book but developers who have done previous ASP.NET development will get the most out of it.
