Well, I was on the fence as far as buying this game goes, but I'm glad I did. It's actually a very fun racing game presented in a somewhat unique fashion.

It basically looks like Google Earth/Maps/what have you, with the street view, and your racing is all top down view. This looks really cool, adds a dose of realism to the game, and is effective in presenting the game in a manner quite unlike anything I have seen previously.

I don't know how authentic the cities really are, but they look perfect in my estimation. I can see myself actually driving through those cities. It's all street racing, and there are points where the roads narrow, split, go under bridges or large trees, etc...that can make the races even more challenging than they already are.

So, what about the races and the cars themselves? The cars are cool. There are a lot of unlockable cars plus an in game dealership to buy more with money earned in races. There isn't a lot of in game detail due to the google Earth approach, but you can go to the garage via the in game options to see what they really look like, what their strengths and weaknesses are, etc...They actually handle a lot like real cars in my estimation. No loose controls or silly features. This game rewards tight, practical control of your vehicle, and everything seems pretty much just like the way real cars handle. You will need to practice to get good at this game. Sloppy play will result in a lot of replays. That said, I didnt find that it took too long to get accustomed to the controls, and once you do, you definitely feel like you can take down every race. Just know this isn't a casual game as far as the mechanics go. You WILL need to learn how to drive your cars properly.

this is NOT a high quality game. That being said, it plays like a game that came strait from the original Nintendo game system..

I bought the steam keys off of another site and did not pay the retail price. I think for what they offer the price is way way to high. Little Street Racers sold here on amazon and the newer version on steam is a lot better in ways I will explain.

Both games feature isometric overhead and a rotating iso camera view. However Little Street Racer offers more camera views 5 versus 3 views in RWR.

Both games have you racing around in the streets of a town. In RWR you race around a Google sat. Map and they do look good as the developers have added people that move and take pictures and barriers to give it more of a 3d feel. However that is also one of the disadvantages because they cannot add more cameras like Little Street Racer can and does. Also because its a real map of an actual city the images are not as sharp as in Street Racer. So for graphics I would give the edge to Street Racer it just looks better overall and Street Racer has actual weather effects, snow, rain.

The racing is very fun in RWR however there isnt much actual racing. I wish there was. They have side events and these are terrible and detract from the fun of the main game. They have a slalom event going back and forth between flashing cones and if you mess up the timing its game over and a retry. The game also has a timed event checkpoint and these are very tough as well and require a great deal of effort to get thru. The other racing is the helicopter where you have to stay in camera view while racing and you have to slow down and speed up and its not much fun.

The last one is the one on one racing. Here again you would think that would be easy however the designers decided to have you race down a one lane road that has maybe 3 spots to pass the car.
