1.0 out of 5 stars Killing Hip-Hop!!!
These guys kill me when they think they can rap, there is a difference in doing it for the love of it vs. doing it for the money that is what is wrong with hip hop today too many do it for the money this guy sucks.....bad...

Ice-T you should put this guy on the list that is killing hip hop

5.0 out of 5 stars thaa REAList, March 18, 2009
This review is from: Da Realist (Audio CD)
I'll keep this short and simple. This CD is pretty much amazing, from start to finish the beats are fresh and his flow is tight. I will admit i've never been a huge fan of plies, i mean he has some good songs especially those he collaborated with other artists, but this CD proves he can do this by himself and has the potential to go down as one of the best. Even for those of us who can't relate to the ways of the goons, those of us who live an average life without the strippers and hoes, stacks of paper and 28s, this guy goes hard for us all. Awesome. Buyy itt

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly the "REALIST", December 16, 2008
This review is from: Da Realist (Audio CD)
I'm by no means saying Plies is a talented rapper such as a Biggie or a Jay Z. But the mans music is a true exsprestion of his self and the life he lives and the past he went threw. He never sold out on himself he has a formula and it starts with the ladies. He knows sex sells so he makes the songs for the ladies and he makes songs for the "Goons" and knomatter who you are you can get down with his stuff. This is his best work to date even though this is his 3rd realese in less than 2 years. He has shown a good bit of growth. I give this cd 5 stars for being what it is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Plies best yet., December 24, 2008
This review is from: Da Realist (Audio CD)
In just under 16 months Plies drops his third album "Da Realist". Plies is sticking with what he knows best, so it is no different with his lastest album talking about "goons, sex & family". I would have to say this is his best album yet, nice production and a interesting flow. No way, I am proclaiming Plies to be the realist or even the best rapper alive but what I am saying is his cd is enjoyable and has been in my disc changer since it released-so yes I like his music.

I can care-less if what Plies is saying is true in his music, if he lived that type of lifestyle or not, but none-the-less I enjoy many of his tracks and entertainment personality. Plies is sticking to what his fan-base loves and that's talking about the streets.

As usual the album did have some hits and misses, just like any other but my favorites are:

1. Me & My Goons
3. Gotta Be
6. Family Straight (Song touched home)
10. Heard of Me
11. All Black
13. I Chase Paper
14. Pants Hang Low
15. Co-Defendant

In all honesty, you would have to take this cd for what its worth. Either your going to Love it or Hate it.

4.0 out of 5 stars HIS BEST YET!!!, January 8, 2009
This review is from: Da Realist (Audio CD)
I have all of Plies cd's but honestly Ive never really listened to any of them except his last one briefly. This is his best thus far, lyrical hes never going to be put in the top 10 but the cd is nice and it's quite an improvement over the last couple of cds he's put out. Beside Plies has never declared himself a lyrical juggernaunt, he makes music you can listen to and enjoy, for those purposes it lives up to expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars; plies is here to stay, January 5, 2009
This review is from: Da Realist (Audio CD)
Plies album; the realiet goes hard. I don't understand the negative reviews for this cd. You already know what kind of music he puts out; street music so if you haven't liked him since the real testament, chances are, you won't like this cd. On to the review. Plies junior effort, the realiet, picks up where his last cd left off. In his interview , he stated that he wanted this cd to apply to more of the club scene. Most of it do; but don't get it twisted; it's still street.

The street songs include me and goons, all black( a hard song with a dark drum beat), pants hang low, co-defendent, heard of me and f**k you gone do about it. The deep songs are 2nd chance, family straight and gotta be. The songs for the ladies are want it, need it, spend the night , put it on ya, and street light. The rest of the tracks deal with paper. Not really a bad track on the cd; but there are a couple tracks i skip and that include make a movie and spend the night. This is plies most consistent album out of the 3 he put out. So if you want some real street music, then cop this here album.

Q's top 6

1. Family straight
2. 2nd chance
3. pants hang low
4. gotta be
5. want it, need it
6. all black

I'M HONESTLY VERY SURPRISED AT HOW GOOD THIS ALBUM IS. REASON BEING, HE DROP IT SO FAR FAST. BUT AS USUAL PLIES DELIVERS SOME GOOD HOOD MUSIC. MY FAVORITE TRACK IS "FAMILY STRAIGHT". HE REALLY HIT HOME WITH THAT ONE. OFCOURSE YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH TRACKS LIKE "STREET LIGHT", "MAKE A MOVIE", AND "I CHASE PAPER". THIS IS A MUST HAVE ALBUM.

5.0 out of 5 stars PLIES 3RD ALBUM, December 16, 2008

What can i say about my full blooded goon Plies. From starting out with heavyhitters in the game like T-Pain and Akon to being featured on various other artist albums. His first hit with T-Pain Shawty the lyrics were so awsome, he turned the lyric Bust it Baby in Shawty to a compilation featuring Ne-Yo. The hits kept comming like #1 fan featuring Keyshia Cole and The-Dream to my favourite Watch Dis and Please Excuse My Hands. Their is no dought that DaREALIST will go down in goon hiSTORy
