5.0 out of 5 stars First and Last Project! : - (, June 30, 2000

This review is from: Reality Check (Audio CD)
I am making this review as a tribute to Reality Check (and as a helper to the Reality Check fans). This CD is among the greatest CD's I own. Not because of the music, but because of the message, and if it was because of the music, it would be the greatest CD I own. All of the songs bring a message that can be useful to every human being. The first four songs have energy. The next two songs are featuring Michael Tait (singer in DC Talk). And the last songs are just plain cool. I can't go a day without listening to this CD because I am hooked. I am going to get the Luna Halo CD because one of the singers of Reality Check is the lead singer in that band. I wish I could find out what happened to the other three guys. If you know, let me know. The main singer in Reality Check resembles Kevin Max Smith from DC Talk and kind of sounds like him too. I like the last song beause the guitars are really cool in that song. I hope that you realize that Reality Check was the greatest band in the world and they never should have broken up!

4.0 out of 5 stars You'll like this if you like DC Talk., August 8, 2000
This review is from: Reality Check (Audio CD)
These guys combine hip hop and metal to bring the message of God to a younger generation. Funny thing about that is I am over 30 (closer to 40) and I like this CD alot. My favorite song is "Masquerade" but all of the songs have their moments. An impressive album by these guys.

4.0 out of 5 stars When I Was 14, This Was Awesome, July 23, 2011
This review is from: Reality Check (Audio CD)
I remember this being pretty cool. I'm sure it sounds hokey now, but when you're 14 and just kinda getting into music, this was fun. Really paved the way regarding my musical taste. I soon went on to Mxpx, Five Iron, Supertones, etc. Obviously my taste has significantly evolved. But I'll always have a special place for Reality Check. If I recall, they were a hell of a lot of fun in concert. Used to have a kick ass poster of them as well. Good times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back to Reality, February 17, 2007
This review is from: Reality Check (Audio CD)
I was first introduced to this cd several years ago by my little brother who has excellent taste in music so I decided to listen to find out what Reality Check was all about. I was impressed by them and quickly became a fan. This cd is a must have if you are interested in a different type of sound. My favorite song on the disk is of course Plastic because it simply couldn't be more true. Buy it, you'll live it.

I saw these guys in concert back in 1997 and I fell in love with this CD! They absolutely lit up the stage and their CD is very unqiue. They broke up unfortunately, but this CD plays on. I have had it for 7 years now, and still love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why did you have to break up?!, April 24, 2003

This review is from: Reality Check (Audio CD)
Reality Check is best described as a gold nugget. Rare, valuable, and usually found in areas mostly compiled of dirt. While often compared to DC Talk, Reality Check is best compared to the earlier styles of 311 to the point where when I first heard them I thought it was the Christian music industry trying to capitolize on 311's fame. I was quickly proven wrong.
While Reality Check has the typical rap-rock sound you might expect, the more you listen to this album the more you realize how diverse this album is. From catchy hooks to deep lyrics that make you think, this album is a work of art from beginning to end. And those who currently own this album will attest that it stands the test of time. 2003 and still a great album. The only bad thing Reality Check has ever put out is the press release that they were breaking up.

This is an excellent disc! Easily one of my favorites. I stumbled upon it by accident when hearing a few of these songs on a mixed disc. One terrific "mellow" song (Know You Better) and the rest simply rock! Get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Way Cool!, August 11, 2001

I had the song Plastic on one of my various artists cd and Masquerade and Know you better on a tape of various artists and I thought they sounded really good. Then my sister bought the cd and I discovered that the other songs were really good too. This group shares their faith about God and play really good. The cd is mostly rock and sorta like dc Talks music only more rocky. I still like Plastic , Masquerade and Know you Better but I also really like Losing Myself and Carousel. Really Good Band! This is the only cd they have so get it and enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME CD!!!, May 31, 2001

Reality Check is one of those few jewels in the midst of the less known artists that you find. This is their one and only CD, but it's an awesome CD nonetheless. I first heard them at a little alternative stage at a local Christian music fest and on a little sampler CD, and after that I was hooked. Their combination of rock with rap/hip hop reminds me much of DC Talk and their Jesus Freak album. There's a wide range of music with good lyrics on there. Two of the best are Masquerade (rockish) and Know You Better (slower ballad). Definitely an awesome CD!

Wow. I absolutley love this cd and would not trade it for the world. Their lyrics let you see God in a whole new light. I especially love "Know you better". It's beautiful. Nathan Barlowe's heavenly voice, and Chris, Rod, and Dave got it goin' on. If you like Nathan's style in this cd, you will also definatley love his new band's cd, "Shimmer" by Luna Halo.
