Excellent Book!! Highly recommended for Pet sitters!!,
This review is from: The Reality of Professional Pet Sitting (Paperback)
This book is truly excellent. Ms Roth not only finds a funny way to look at the job a pet sitter faces everyday but she gives a lot of sound advice!! A very TRUTHFUL view of the job. Although this book doesn't tell you how to start a pet sitting business, it does go a lot deeper! It gives you food for thought on if this is really the right career or industry for you. The advice focuses on you as an individual, not on how to get the business going. Do you have what it takes to do this job? She helps you figure it out. It is a *MUST* for all pet sitters to read .as well as those considering the job. Even if you have a pet sitting business this is a *MUST* have book because it can help train new employees if you are planing on hiring. I very highly recommend this book and am very grateful to have a copy of it. TOP OF THE LINE BOOK!!!!!

THE REALITY OF PROFESSIONAL PET SITTING BY SUZANNE ROTH,

This review is from: The Reality of Professional Pet Sitting (Paperback)
GREETINGS TO ALL WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING THIS BOOK, do not hesitate! I got this book and took the time to lay back, have a cup of coffee and relax, the laughter, the wit, the humor that SUZANNE ROTH has in this book lifted my spirits and had me "chuckling" as I was seeing this with her descriptive words! This is one of the best informative book on PET SITTING, that I have ever read, also SUZANNE ROTH should be a story taler, for her experiences are so true to some of the things that have happened to me and my own brood of dogs - and her ability to deal with each situation, and she has many, shows you, the reader, that just anyone cannot be qualified for a PET SITTER - she describes in detail useful information for those that might be "thinking" of going into the business - for PET SITTING is not easy, and it is amazing to me how she manages all of this with the greatest of ease, of course, she is a worrier, that is what makes for a good PET SITTER and a good person....This is definitely a book that any time I need to have a laugh, that I will "pick" up and read over and over again - I thank SUZANNE ROTH for putting this book together for me and others like me that will appreciate her humor, wit, work and life! Thank you SUZANNE ROTH, even though I have never met you, I feel as if I know you, GOOD LUCK and may God Bless you and that precious husband of yours that makes your job even easier! An interesting glimpse at the obstacles of pet sitting,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Reality of Professional Pet Sitting (Paperback)
Before I started boarding small dogs, I had briefly considered pet sitting. However, after having just read about Suzanne Roth's experiences in this book, I am now convinced that boarding was the better path. This is a thin book and rather pricy for its size, but if you're considering the pet sitting business, it will give you a good sense of the obstacles facing the pet sitter. Roth describes her adventures with short stories ranging from the friendly dog who isn't so friendly... to the suspiciously-still lizard... to the alarm systems that don't accept the codes provided by the owners. The one downfall of the book is that it is short on instruction. There is some useful information in the 'Some Advice' section, but it is not a 'how to' primer on pet sitting. The stories will not give you insight into how to work around your own pet sitting dilemmas. And as another reviewer suggested... having to frequently call your husband to bail you out of difficult situations is not a 'professional' solution. Still, the stories will give you a feeling for the difficulties of the business and by the end of the book, you will have a sense as to whether this is the right business for you.

This book is a must read for pet sitting advise!,
This review is from: The Reality of Professional Pet Sitting (Hardcover)
This is a great book for anyone who has ever thought about taking care of an animal other than your own. Animals can be unpredictable and Suzanne Roth covers all the bases on what can and does happen to a pet sitter. She has provided a good tool to those who need to know the reality of watching pets. I enjoyed the way she made her experiences come alive and prompted the reader to imagine themselves in the various situations she found herself in. She is a very nice person and I'm glad she is in the pet sitting business taking good care of all the animals that depend on her. Highly recommend this book!

Wrong Title,
By Coddfish (Maine) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Reality of Professional Pet Sitting (Paperback)
This should've been called "The bad things that happened to me while pet sittng for 8 years." The vast bulk of the book is made up of anectdotes from the author's life that, taken alone, would keep anyone from wanting to become a pet sitter. Although the author obviously has a love of her job, there is not one recount of a positive experience that would explain that love. The reader has to pause in wonder at the author's fear of mice, squirrels, iguanas, and even some cats. If you're a lover of ALL animals, or you if you're looking for advice on how to start or improve your business, you'll find this book seriously lacking in substance. Written in second (yes, second) person, and full of uninspired language wrapped around poor attempts at humor(ie.repeated use of the phrase 'no pun intended'), this is a disappointment by any measure. Two stars is a generous rating.

As owner of Arizona Canine Academy, a school that trains trainers, we are asked about the Pet Sitting Profession. Suzanne's book is the perfect guide for those wishing to enter and be successful in this profession. This book has been added to the required reading list for all of our students. Great book and great information.

Advice: Read this Book First!,
By Mary Russo (Midwest USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Reality of Professional Pet Sitting (Paperback)
I just recently purchased this book. I only wish I had bought it BEFORE I made up my mind to make pet sitting my full-time career....I have been in business since last summer, and I am exhausted! This book would have made me realize that I should have started SLOWly and not had 1000 business cards and ads printed up right away...I know now I couldn't handle anywhere near 1000 customers by myself...it is exhausting! The book is very funny, while pointing out both the advantages and disadvantages of pet sitting. If you love pets, you will love this book whether you are a pet sittr or not - I still have a smile on my face. Bravo!

Tells it like it is,

This review is from: The Reality of Professional Pet Sitting (Paperback)
I had big dreams of becoming a pet sitter, that is until I read this book. I thought pet sitting would be an easy job or great business to start. Well, Suzanne really lets you in on some of the horrible things that can happen, and that pet sitting is not that easy at all. I no longer desire to start a pet sitting business. It sounds kind of sad, but the book woke me up and gave me a reality check. This book is a must read to anyone planning or even thinking about pet sitting.

A must read for all animal lovers.,
By "gordonchandler" (Stone Mountain, GA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Reality of Professional Pet Sitting (Paperback)
This is a fun book. The interesting stories and lighthearted way of telling them by Suzanne makes this book a must read for all animal lovers even if they do not plan to enter the Pet Sitting business. Most people think of Pet Sitting as leisurely walking a fun little dog on a bright sunny spring day. On many occasions it is, but this is the only book I have found that addresses some of the profession's problems in addition to its rewards. You might begin to think that Suzanne goes to work with a dark cloud over her head but you quickly realize that these hilarious events in pet sitting make the business even more fun and rewarding and that the same events will probably happen to you. You will not find how to open a checking account or how to incorporate your new business. Instead you will receive some very practical information about actually running a pet business and what to expect. I don't think that any of the amusing stories of mishaps will keep anyone out of the business but it will certainly better prepare someone to be a better Professional Pet Sitter.

The Reality of Professional Pet Sitting,

This review is from: The Reality of Professional Pet Sitting (Paperback)
As soon as I received this book I began reading and reading. I did not want to put it down. A very easy and enjoyable read! She is a wonderful, entertaining storyteller. I would highly recommend it to all animal lovers, would-be petsitters and professional petsitters. However, I feel the price is exorbitant and if given the option to purchase it again at that price, I would not. Again, a great read but not worth that amount of green to me.
