Dr. Wubbolding's latest publication, REALITY THERAPY FOR THE 21ST CENTURY, is an eminently readable, highly organized, hands-on type of book. The professional will love it for the easy reference it provides and the lay person will choose it as a self-help book that really works! Students will be delighted with the chapter on research and the rich bibliography. Businessmen and women will appreciate its truly apt applications. Reality Therapy for the 21st Century,
By Susie Checkett (Cincinnati, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Reality Therapy For the 21st Century (Paperback)
Dr. Wubbolding's latest book, Reality Therapy for the 21st Century, is relevant and applicable to anyone, not just those working in the counseling profession. His down-to-earth writing style keeps the immense amount of information, especially his WDEP methodolgy, readable and understanable. For those just entering the counseling profession, Chapter 9 (The Procedures) is an excellent resource for working with clients. Lastly, the research studies are a great reference since they include a variety of topics, including substance abuse, depression, and juvenile offenders.

This review is from: Reality Therapy For the 21st Century (Paperback)
Robert Wubbolding does an excellent job making a different idea and thought process easy to understand in a very practical way. He has a deep understanding of the difference ethnicity, culture, gender, age and different life circumstances make in how we relate with others, with daily life and especially with ourselves. With this understanding he leads to resolutions.
I highly recommend this book to every therapist, especially those trained in Reality Therapy wanting to deepen and broaden their use of Reality Therapy, and to those wanting to know what Reality Therapy is all about.

Clear academic explanation of Glasser's work,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Reality Therapy For the 21st Century (Paperback)
Reality therapy and Choice theory offer a departure from the rearview style of more common analytic psychotherapy theories. William Glasser's books tend to be very experiential with lots of examples of therapy sessions and a focus on the how to of Choice Theory language. In comparison, Wubbolding does a great job of clearly explaining Choice Theory and Reality Therapy from a more academic theoretical standpoint and includes some of his own experiential tools as well. Obviously Glasser is "the man" when it comes to Reality Therapy, but if you are more akin to the academic understanding I would say Wubbolding's book might be a better first choice.
