Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

The Chrysostom Society is a group of some 30 contemporary Christian authors (with the word Christian used in its broadest context, from evangelical to liberal). In this collection, 17 of them--including Madeleine L'Engle, William Griffin, Karen Burton Mains, and Larry Woiwode--write about their personal literary and spiritual mentors, from John Milton to Ray Bradbury, from John Donne to Flannery O'Connor. The individual essays are as diverse as their authors and subjects but ultimately focus on the reality of the human condition and the transcendence of both art and faith. The book is a personal survey of the world's great literature and should be of special interest to aspiring writers.
- Mary Margaret Benson, Linfield Coll. Lib., McMinnville, Ore.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Review on 18 Christian Authors, March 24, 2000
By A Customer
This book is a great way to look at what Christian authors like Walter Wangerin has to say about Hans Christian Anderson and Stephan Lawhead about J.R.R. Tolkien. You don't have to be a Christin to enjoy the colorful desciptions these authors use to say about these great men and authors.
