I am sorry I am mentioning how the story ends but the character does not need to wear glasses. It defeated the reason why I bought the book which is to help my kid who does need to wear glasses. It also contains too many words in "English" languange (not American) which is not that easy to deal with with small preschoolers.

This is one of the original Charlie and Lola books. At age 5, my granddaughter was required to wear glasses which just about crushed her spirit. She was so deeply unhappy and ashamed. This book glorifies glasses and really helped to change her mind. She is smiling again. What a gift for us all!

A solid quick story about Lola, who is nervous to go to the eye doctor until she sees her friend at school wearing glasses. Then Lola decides that the eye doctor is going to be great and that she'll get a pair of glasses. This boom does review the 'don't let others try on your glasses' rule and reviews that people need glasses to help them see. My 6 year old is getting glasses and this was nice for her to read. While the main character does not end up getting glasses, the problem-solving older brother comes up with a great solution. Cute story. Opens the door for conversation with your glasses-wearing kiddos.

We bought the book so our toddler would accept the idea of wearing glasses more easily. This is the second time that such a book ends up being about a kid who does NOT need glasses!! AND in case it was not bad enough, some of the text is a little bit insulting to kids who do need them. So we have to skip these passages, and we are glad that our kid will be too old for this kind of book by the time he knows how to read.
We did not give it a 1 star because our toddler likes it.

I ordered this for her and I thought it was cute how they make glasses sound so cool. Even my 5 yr old boy now is asking when he will wear glasses!
