Not what I thought it would be. It moves and jumps into the story WAY too fast, and the details we're just kinda glazed over. Not a fan. REALLY felt like a cheap harlequin romance novel. No connection with the characters I love, just didn't match up.

I thought this book was okay, but I think the only thing resembling Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' is the use of her character names and settings. I had a pretty hard time with Ms. Wilson treatment of the relationship between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, along with some of the things she did with Elizabeth.
There are definitely some scenes that will make many blush and the storyline was pretty predictable, but if you're just looking for a light read with the names of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy included, you won't be too disappointed.

This has to be one of the worst books I have EVER read! The only positive about it is that it was very short, and a quick read. I actually surprised myself by finishing it, since it was so bad. Talk about a cheap romance novel, with trashy scenes and ridiculus words to represent some of the sex scenes. I was expecting a new twist on the characters from Pride and Prejudice, but this was over the top, and hardly recognizable as Darcy and Elizabeth. Not only was the story bad, but the editing was non-existent. Are books no longer read by someone before they are published? It is amazing to me how badly our language is mis-used in so many current books, and this one was no exception. Bad grammar, bad spelling, bad punctuation....you name it, it was there.
My recommendation...DO NOT waste your money on this book. If you have any inclination to read it, go to the library.

Another favorite from Ms. Wilson. The reason I love Enid books because they are lovable and funny, she have some very unusual characters that's made it fun for me. Darcy and Lizzy are great together. Brava Enid!

I love P&P sequels, I like romances, I can easily read a good erotic story, I enjoy a good comedy, heck I enjoy a good fan fiction novel. Really Angelic doesn't hit the mark in either category. I can say I've added it to my P&P collection but I can't say I enjoyed it. The story started out with an interesting premise but did not maintain my interest. Bluntly, the story is just plain dumb. This book didn't hold my attention - a very rare occurence, especially with the P&P sequels. Hate to leave a bad review but this just wasn't worth the price - in dollars and in time spent.

If the author had spent as much time with the plot line as she did with the graphic sex scenes, the book might have had some redeeming value.

The characters might be called Elizabeth and Darcy, but that's about the only connection with Pride and Prejudice that this novel has. But even if one is generous and attempts to assess the book in terms of a paranormal romance that has nothing to do with P&P, it fails there too. The "paranormal" part of it - that Elizabeth is really an angel - fails because it isn't good fantasy, neither imaginative nor evocative. The "romance" part of it fails because it uses lust in place of characterisation. The whole thing is just an excuse for a bunch of badly-written soft porn.

I really loved this book. Enid Wilson is a spicy writer for our times.
Thanks Ms. Wilson for this delightful story. I can't wait for your next Pride and Prejudice variation. Luvada :<))

The plot of this novel (Elizabeth Bennet as Mr. Darcy's guardian angel) is pretty preposterous and the story itself really has very little to do with Pride and Prejudice other than some plot similarities and characters. I found the parts of the book that dealt with Lizzy's angelic heritage to be quite nonsensical, and there is quite a bit of gratuitous sexual content in this book as well.
But in spite of all that, I still found myself to be somewhat entertained and amused as I read it. It's very light and fluffy and downright comical at times (some of that is intentional and some not) and it reads more like a light romance novel than a serious Pride and Prejudice variation but it's definitely not the worst thing I've ever read. Just know what you're getting into before you open the pages and try not to take it too seriously and you will hopefully find yourself more entertained than annoyed.

A Great Paranormal Story.,

Elizabeth in this story is an Angel and is Mr Darcy's Guardian Angel. Unknown to Elizabeth she had fallen from the heavens where Mrs Bennet had found her after the death of her own daughter Elizabeth. Both Mr and Mrs Bennet bring her up as a gentleman's daughter.
Michael who is the commissionaire for finding lost angels informs her of her duty to Mr Darcy and how to learn to fly etc. There are many funny instances as Elizabeth learns what she needs to do to help her ward. I found it to be a wonderful read a real page turner. |
