The list author says: "This is a list of stuff--food, movies, books, etc.--that will make your pupils dialate and oxytocin course through your veins. You know how you look into a puppy or kitty's eyes and want to live in a house made of marshmallows? This list will help you achieve a similar effect. Let's go! P.S. I'm working on a sequel called "More Really Cute Things." A WIP. Check it out."
"This album is AWESOME. A lot of people are giving her crap about it because it's more extroverted than her usual stuff. They want her to stay the same. Also, because it's in English. But she needs to attract English-speaking audiences, and she should be allowed to branch out and try new things. This is a fun, energetic album. Love it. Keep up the good work!"
"The writing could use some work, but this is one of the CUTEST children's books I've ever seen. The drawings are pastel-themed, very soft and in colored pencil. And all the characters seem so cuddly! You can even just ignore the words and focus on the illustrations."
"Super, super, super cute emo claymation about friendship. It's like Emily the Strange has taken several sugar hits. In other words, Tim Burton and Hello Kitty's love child. Let's leave it at that. Not for little kids, but those 12 and up."
"Ah, the Princess Diaries. Books 1-4 rocked my socks, and then it all went downhill. Really, though, she could've stopped at book three and called it a day. Meg Cabot also wrote little Princess Diaries "half" books. This is one of them, and the only half book I actually like. Mia invites Lily and Michael to Genovia for Christmas. Other famous royals pop up, too. Good times."
"I get these nearby for about a dollar a pack. They are Asia's answer to Starbursts. Yummy, gummy, wummy. Apple is the most popular brand, but there's all kinds. Go a little crazy and try a flavor you've never tried before, like dragonfruit."
"Honestly, I got a whole box at Costco for less than 10 bucks. Super yummy, and comes in all kinds of good flavors. My fav is the raspberry chocolate. Someday, I'm going to stir a candy cane in some and feel my taste buds experience the magic."
"I think everyone's seen this movie, but never talks about it. SUPER CUTE and what made Audrey Tautou a star, although I hear she's sick of it, if only a little. It's about a shy young waitress who falls in love and has to sum up the courage to get with her man. In French. There's kind of a racist scene in it, but you decide."
"There are cute characters EVERYWHERE in this movie. Also, balloons. And love and comedy and friendship. And bravery. And ACTION. I cried in the first ten minutes and my brother called me a baby, but who cares? Good cinema for all ages to enjoy."
"Betcha didn't know Zooey Deschanel also sings? Very well, in fact. Fun indie music. She's really creative. The Him in She & Him is also talented, but he doesn't sing, so sadly does not get as much attention."
"I was worried the second album wouldn't be as good. An artist pumps out a good first piece, something goes wrong, and the sequel falls flat. Not true in this case. It's a bit more serious than the last, but the quality is just as good, if not better. I drove my family crazy listening to this album. Enjoy."
"Cannot BELIEVE this got canceled after two seasons. A guy named Ned runs a pie shop and brings things to life by touching them. He teams up with a PI to help solve murders. You will crave pie after watching this show. All of the characters and places have cute names. Also: Kristen Chenoweth!! as the adorable Olive Snook. Also, the guy who reads the Harry Potter books on tape narrates. Booyah."
"500 Days of Summer meets Frasier? Sort of. A fun--but simultaneously dark--graphic novel and a fast read. Asterios is a jerk who must realize his snobby ways before it is too late. Some of the dialogue really blew me away, it was so perceptive. Like Alison Bechdel's Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic. And the characters are cute! Especially Hana."
"KITTIES EVERYWHERE. Anne Hathaway did a really good job with the voice-over. Hilarious. If you watch it with little kids, they'll teach you when to giggle. It's laugh-out-loud, piss-your-pants silly. Not the most sophisticated humor, but wonderful all the same."
"They don't distribute this as widely because this film talks about periods. Big whoop. This is a great movie about a woman who reflects on her past, present, and future. About childhood disappointments. I cried at least twice, I think. Real tears. None of that sniffling stuff. It's hard to find a US version, I guess."
"I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid. Sooooo cute. Cookies, trains, butterflies. It's also a musical. A good vs. evil story. Also: the most adorable flying squirrel the world has ever known."
"Super cute little child prodigy with an attitude and his stuffed tiger. I think it'll be cheaper if you buy the soft-cover treasuries one at a time instead of buying the complete set. Also, it'd be easier to carry around. And I heard the complete set falls apart easily. This is a classic and probably one of the most famous comic strips in American history."
"Cute kid who likes scary things, like spiders and werewolves. It's told almost entirely without words, which is unusual and amazing. Fun to look at, and really detailed. And sweet, because he fights for animal rights."
"Super, super cute Korean drama. The leading lady is adorable. About a girl who must marry a prince because of a promise. The prince is really mean at first, and the princess-to-be is almost outrageously silly. You will become addicted after a couple episodes."
"Really cute collection of short stories (5 mins. each, about). Little stories in Paris about love, etc. Then the characters kind of all come together at the end. The stories are very interesting: vampires, mimes, etc. In French, obvs. The sequel bit monkeys, a total disappointment."
"This is such a sweet, funny movie. Steve Carrell plays a widower with three daughters. He meets a woman who he instantly feels attracted to, but later on finds out she's his brother's girlfriend. Awkwardness and longing ensue. It was good to see Carrell in a serious role; Juliette Binoche is as lovely as ever. Also: FABULOUS soundtrack."
"Part musical, part drama, with magic and romance thrown in. A young woman finds out she is a witch and has fun experimenting with her powers until she feels things have gone too far. True '80s classic. There's something very charming and wistful about this film. Robyn Lively is very wide-eyed."
"The only thing NOT cute is the oafish, abusive husband. About a pie maker who is pregnant when her husband gets her drunk one night. She's not too happy about her marriage or baby. But she loves making pies and strives to make her dreams come true. Not a gritty film. It was really funny, at times. Will make you crave pie."
"Sprinkled with cuteness throughout. Lorelei and daughter Rory live in the small town of Stars Hollow and must balance school, work, life, and love. They talk really fast and eat really good food. Lots of name-dropping, fun, comedy, drama, handsome men, other cute characters. Good songs, too."
"Lesser-known fairy tales with real live actors. The atmosphere of these tales is rather grimy (the storyteller himself doesn't seem to bathe all that often), but the stories are oftentimes very sweet and lovely. There's even a puppet dog. Great for kids, just as long as they aren't too little."
"The classic fairy tales, with a few more obscure ones thrown in, played by real live actors, many of whom are very famous today (e.g. Bernadette Peters!). I'm not gonna lie, some of these can be quite scary for the little 'uns. The special effects are awful, and some of the performers are a little too old for their roles, but it's easily forgivable. Fantastic acting."
