3.0 out of 5 stars Just One Look, February 9, 2010
This review is from: Really Good Friends (Paperback)
The freshman year of high school is a time of magical transition, when the simple games of childhood loose importance and best friends sometimes drift apart. It is a time of harsh discovery, new realities, and new expectations. Jill and her friends are anxiously awaiting the start of their high school debut, laughing, dreaming and promising to always be there for each other. Cheerleading practice begins in a few days, will the varsity cheerleaders accept them? Time flies quickly and they are tossed into a hurried jumble of unfamiliar class routines, teachers, and deceiving experiences that leave them wondering what truly lies ahead. There is always the "must have" status of having a boyfriend. When you go out there's the first kiss, first base, and then just how far do you go? Do you sacrifice your long time friends for the more popular crowd? What's most important, being "in" and accepted or being honest with others, yourself, and your parents? What about the party at Jordan's? I mean everyone who is anyone is going to be there but how can Jill and her friends make a good impression if they don't go? What about Jordan's parents, are they actually going to be there to supervise? The party will hold many new, exciting, challenging, and worrisome choices. When the newness of high school wears off, Jill is left behind as her friends are all "going out" she feels awkward and embarrassed. Will Todd ever see her as more than just someone to joke around with? Will she get up enough nerve to ask him to hang out? The prom is coming and Jill is invited, but dose she really want to go? When her first year of high school starts drawing to a close, things will never be the same and her life, forever altered, changes course.

"Really Good Friends" is just one look into the experiences of becoming a teenager, the choices they face and the unchangeable consequences.
