This book is Heaven sent,

This review is from: The Really, Really, Really Easy Step-by-Step Guide to Building Your Own Website: For Absolute Beginners of All Ages (Paperback)
I am lost when it comes to internet technology. I have two web sites but it would take a lot of begging and pleading to get the sites updated by the developers. They would also be asking for rediculous amount of money just to add a bit of colour to the sites.
I got fed up and suddenly it dawned on me that I might just be able to build a site where I would have 100% control over contents and updates. I finally ordered this book and within a week of following the 'really, really, really easy' steps I have now hosted my brand new website. From being a complete novice, this book has turned me into a mini guru on website building.

For Windows only,

Was really excited to have this book; great book layout design, user-friendly, easy to read, step-by-step learning, and large-type ... until several pages into it, you realize you need to download application tools in order to proceed. The apps are free, which is great, but somewhere before opening the cover, should have said FOR WINDOWS ONLY (it's on the back, very last sentence). If you're using "some other operating system" you can't make adaptations if you aren't able to use the required applications. 5 stars for the book layout, 1 star for content.

Well this book is true to the title. I found it to be very informative but at the same time the overall book was written poorly. I could not get some of the software they wanted me to download to work on my computer and some of the versions did not match up. They do not show you how to fix any problems with downloaded software which basically means that if it doesn't work then you wasted your money on the book. I compare this book to a text book and did not like it at all. I would not buy this book.

If you are familiar enough with the world wide web to realize you need your own website, then you already know most of what is in this book. It is over-simplified and poorly written, and the PageBreeze software that is supposed to work with both Windows XP and Vista does not work. I finally gave up and un-installed the software. I am sorry I bought this book.

I have zero knowledge about putting up a website. But upon buying this book and reading it for few days. I got my 1st website up and running!
Now I have all the knowledge needed to bring up a website from scratch. Another good thing about this book is that it recommends some tools which are available freely, so you can build your own website with just the cost of webhosting. It does not discuss some expensive webpage development instead a free webpage program is used. Although the part about the keyword tools software does not match what is written in the book, however playing with the software a little bit can make your own way on how to use it. It would be nice if the author will have the old software distributed with the book though, or could be a document about the latest updated software would be nice. Overall this books is very useful, it opens another door for me on area of putting my own website.

I thought that the book lived up to its title. With a little focus and resolve you too can build a simple website and learn a little bit about how to attract traffic to your site. The materials that I downloaded worked for me, I'm not sure about the other reviewers. To the MAC user that said that it didn't work, it says on the very first page of the book that the site was built on a Windows XP OS. Buy an XP emulator or send the book back but don't give it a bad review because you didn't read. Anyway, a great book if you are willing to put the time and effort in.

The Really, Really, Really Easy Step-by-Step Guide to Building Your Own Website is exactly as the title sounds, a nice introduction to building a website for a beginner with no knowledge in a detailed step by step manner. The book covers the basics of seo optimization, domain submitting, obtaining links, inserting and correctly using pictures, "don't upload a 100 mb picture to your website :)". Overall useful for a complete beginner, if not a complete newbie maybe look for something dedicated to a specific topic. For instance if you're looking to obtain a large amount of data from the web for your website, you may try Introduction to Data Mining to start you out, which is rather programming intensive or if you are not up to the task of all the programming you may just have someone do it for you like [...] which will get the data for you.

This book was written for Windows XP, and the program they use is out of date as well. The book explains version 2, while their website has version 3. And they are very different. I didn't even bother reading the rest of the book. It seemed pretty much useless, and I didn't want to waste my time.
