This review is from: Realm of Silence: Reflections on the Holocaust (Hardcover)
Elvire de Baere illustrates the horror of the holocaust in a delicate and sensitve way with her nine paitings and her poems. "Realm of Silence" is an outstanding book, a tribute to those who perished in the holocaust as well as to the survivors.

Ms. Coriat de Baere gives us a shining light of hope at the end of a tunnel filled with such overwhelming sadness. She gives us a unique understanding of this period of evil and cruelty in her own special way.Roz Seiden Marin County, California

I had the good fortune to see this book during its creation. The artist/author chose high quality materials (like for a coffee table art book) and gave exacting specs to get the colors just right in the full-color reproductions of the paintings in the book. I find the artist's marriage of poetry with the paintings gives me an uncanny peek into the unimaginable. My feelings run the gamut: horror and despair at the Holocaust atrocities; and uplifting inspiration for the sacred trust of the memory of the victims. The images are not brutal, but subtle and somehow humane. Words don't adequately describe the experience. _Realm of Silence_ has appeared in several museum exhibitions.

This review is from: Realm of Silence: Reflections on the Holocaust (Hardcover)
In the Realm of Silence, Elvire de Baėre illustrates one of humanity's darkest hours through the lens of silence. Her art & poetry will transport you to a place of bleak, unspeakable agony ... but Ms. de Baėre beautifully concludes your journey by honoring and sensitively illuminating the memory of those who once suffered, but suffer no more.

Sensitive and Inspiring,

This review is from: Realm of Silence: Reflections on the Holocaust (Hardcover)
Elvire deBaere creates a sensitive and emotional interpretation of the Holocaust. The accompany poems takes you deeper into her paintings where one feels the fear, depair, and anger of the Holocaust, yet leaves us with hope for future generations. Not only is this work of art a gift to the Jewish people and all people, but is also a book that can be used in the classroom when studying the Holocaust.

Inspiring,
This review is from: Realm of Silence: Reflections on the Holocaust (Hardcover)
Paintings and poetry unite to depict in a creative manner a time in history when genocide occurred on a large scale to European Jews. Ms. de Baere's book leaves us with hope that this painful period will inspire all of us to work towards a better world. Pictures and poetry make this book a work of art.
