This chair has been well regarded for its comfort, adjustability, and general Aeron-like nature at a much lower cost. But it's also well known to have problems with hardware, as noted by many on the Office Depot website reviews. In fact, the previous version had a recall due to only two weak bolts attaching the back rest. But this new version has four bolts attaching the back rest, so hopefully it'll hold together.

I just got the chair and am happy with it so far, except that the hardware is a disappointment. It assembles with some machine bolts and a single 5mm allen key. The bolt heads, as well as the allen key, are made of a soft steel that easily deforms the first time you tighten a bolt. After three bolts, I discarded the allen key that came with the chair and used my own quality wrench from a bike toolset. But since the bolt heads are so soft, they deform and tend to round off the wrench flats - even a good quality wrench. I'll probably run to the hardware store and pick up some replacement bolts made of hard steel. Here's a parts list based on the model I just got (yours may vary):

> Two 1/4" x 1" machine bolts with lock washers
> Two 1/4" x 5/8" machine bolts with lock washers
> Four M8 x 17mm machine bolts with lock washers (very odd that they mix metric and imperial fasteners)
> Loctite "Blue 242" thread lock
> 5mm allen wrench

UPDATE: When you go to the hardware store, you'll find the two lengths of 1/4" bolts stocked to match. Since they're imperial sized, they'll probably take a 3/16" allen wrench like the ones I got. Make sure you use a quality allen wrench - just ask at the store for which brand is strongest.

I bought one of these chairs a few years ago but left it behind in my hometown with a family member when I moved away. That family member is really loving her free chair, by the way. :)

I decided to buy it again years later because I remembered how comfortable this chair was. The quality and durability are topnotch. The chair takes about three minutes to assemble. The levers and handles are all very easy to use and function very well. The mesh bottom and back create the feeling of floating, to a degree. The chair is not very light. It's a bit on the heavy side but that is not a problem for me. However, this could be for an elderly person so I thought I would point this out.

I don't sit in this chair for extended hours a day. But I do use it when I'm on my laptop (roughly three to four hours per sitting) and I also pull it up to the dining table instead of using actual dining table chairs. In fact, I don't plan to even buy dining room chairs because not only do I love how comfortable these chairs are, but I also dig their modern and sleek design.

I'm a big guy (6-foot, 250 pounds) and spend several hours every day in this chair. I bought it over a year ago and it remains my favorite desk chair ever. Surprisingly comfortable and fully adjustable, its biggest selling points are the mesh back and seat. My previous computer chairs always died within two years because the foam seats self-destruct or the surface shreds, but this mesh design is as attractive, firm and comfortable as the day I bought it. Even the chair's arms look and feel like new.

A few months ago I pulled my back and this was the only chair that didn't exacerbate my back strain. And, if I happen to come in hot from yard work, it is REALLY nice to sit in a chair that doesn't stick to me and make me even more miserable. Yuck!

Five stars!

Working from home, I am in an office chair more than my own bed. We all know that you should never buy a cheap mattress, so why should an office chair be any different?

This chair had the 5 things I was looking for:
1 - Adjustable and comfortable arm rests. You'd be surprised how few chairs have decent adjustable arm rests. I must have tried out a couple hundred. Having wrist and shoulder problems, this was #1 on my must have list. This alone eliminated 90% of chairs out there. Once I felt the comfortable gel pads, I was sold.

2 - Ergonomic back support. This chair forces you to sit upright, which is what my lazy hulk needed. I sat in this, then my old chair to compare, and I was probably slouched 4 inches lower in the old chair. I had to raise my monitors! Suddenly the world looks cleaner and sharper and I don't have to irk my neck forward to see the screen.

3 - No Cheap plastic look and feel. This has metal arm supports and nice wheels that look higher end than cheaper similar chairs. It looks stylish and expensive. I wish the base was also metal, but that would make this already heavy chair 20 lbs heavier. I told my wife we are getting a divorce if she lets her 5 year old nephew play on this chair.

4 - Mesh. I have no idea why I thought it would be a good idea to sweat in an unbreathable chair all day. Mesh is also stronger than I would have thought and conforms to your lumps. I like it more than I would have thought.

5 - Modern and cool. Let's be real here. Who decided leather was the best office chair material? Your old pleather chair is not fooling anyone.
