I bought a few of these, and they perform as advertised. In multiple machines, being swapped back and forth, for over a year, they've never failed me.
Drivers are built into every operating system I've thrown at them. No problems at all.

If you want gigabit speeds and fancy wazithoozit functionality then look elsewhere. If you want the simple cheap and tough as nails solution to get things done with, you've found it.

Wanted a Realtek chipset NIC to put in a second "hardware identical" PC
Found this one - very low price - works great uses the same driver as the other PC

Installed easily. PC (2002 emachines) recognized it immediately (Win XP, SP3) and works perfectly. No problems at all - wish I had ordered it sooner.

The best thing about this product for me is that it is a Realtek Ethernet part, and as always, it works perfectly from the start, does exactly what it promises to do, is EASY to install: the Windows system has no problems finding it, identifying it, and installing it effortlessly..... and, quite frankly, it's cheap!
If the ethernet on your mobo dies, don't fret nor replace the mobo, just get one of these... that is, if your mobo has a single pci slot you can use for extra stuff...
(Always buy a mobo with at least 2 extra slots.... never sucker for the little mini boards with no extra slots! :-) (Like ASUS 5NA97 for example.)
For the money? You cannot do better, and I will buy these again in the future if one is needed.

This is a fantastic NIC for the price. I've been using one of these in my custom-built work PC for six years now without a single issue. I don't know for sure because I haven't looked, but I would guess that the other ten or so PC's in the office use the same card. Those computers have been running for 7 or 8 years - nine hours a day, five days a week. The only one that we've had a problem with was when lightning struck. Thankfully, it only knocked out one of these. If you're looking for a NIC and don't need anything fancy then look no further. (With that said, if I was buying one today I might go ahead and opt for a gigabit ethernet card if the price difference wasn't too much more). But for your basic needs this card will do the trick.

I know very little about PCs. I prefer to remain a user. After all, who is the servant here, anyway? I bought a used PC and then had cable installed at the house. The installer couldn't get the computer to connect. The cable company's tech support geek couldn't help me either. I ordered a new interface adapter through Amazon. The board is a little shorter than the one it replaces, but the keyway is in the correct place and I installed it anyway. I downloaded the manufacturer's driver for it and the Windows XP Pro wizard connected it on the first try. We are happy with this unit; the speed is a real breath of fresh air, compared to dial-up.

I got this card from seller GEEKSHIVE, INC through Amazon. When I got it I installed it into a windows xp machine. I was super slow, so I decided to update the driver. The ones off the Realtek website would not work. So I did a little more digging. Turns out it was not a real Realtek RTL8139D card. It was a fake china knock-off made from a company called Intek. There is only one driver available and it is super slow (at least it was for me).

This unit has built in drivers with a basic Windows 7 install in case you get hit by lightning and end up with a blown NIC port. This is one of only a few NIC cards that are plug and play without all the hassle of having to unpack CAB files to find a proper 64bit driver for something like a NetGear or other 1gb replacement NIC card. A great work-around!
