4.0 out of 5 stars Realworlds presents a DRASTICALLY different Wonder Woman than what we are used to. Which is the idea. Very thought provoking., May 6, 2011

This review is from: Realworlds: Wonder Woman : "Wonder Woman versus The Red Menace!"
The entire concept behind the Realwords line is to change up everything we know about our favorite heroes and heroines. (Much like the Tangent line. Tangent Comics: Wonder Woman #1 September 1998) And I quote from the back of the book, "In Realworlds, the fantastic exploits of fictional super heroes influences all too human people to attempt super human things. Realworlds stories are tales of extraordinary ordinary people - people whose real lives and real ambitions intersect with familiar iconic figures from the DC Universe in surprising ways, inspiring them to a level of passion, nobility, and greatness worthy of the heroes themselves." Wow, that's a mouthful. LOL
(MINOR SPOILERS!!!) In this case, what we have is a tale of an actress who plays Wonder Woman back in the 40s. The entire feel and vibe of the comic is very similar to the first season of Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman, which took place in that era. (Wonder Woman: The Complete First Season) Not to go too heavily into the plot, but it revolves around a Senator on a communist witch hunt, and how good people get caught up in that persecution. Looks like a job for Wonder Woman! LOL
Overall, the comic is very different, and well written, but it has a VERY soap box, preachy vibe to it. Not in a bad way, but it is a very deep topic. Overall, I say if you are a Wonder Woman fan, then this is a GREAT find to add to your Wonder Woman collection. Despite how different it is, I kept an open mind and enjoyed it. As I said, if you're a Wonder Woman fan, then give this a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Thanks for your time folks.
Sincerely, R.A. McDowell
