Book Description

The World after the End of the World will never be the same again…

Sanctuary. Clichéd name, but the sentiment is still the same. Ten years after the end of the world, ex-soldier Mason and a small group of humans defend their fortified town against creatures of myth and legend made real. But with dwindling game to hunt and a lycan pack in the area looking for an easy meal, just surviving is getting harder every day.

Andy has a few screws loose, and she knows it. She’s been on the road since the bombs fell and changed humanity forever. Driven by inhuman instincts, she tracks the newly and soon-to-be dead and dispatches their souls to the afterlife. Sometimes they go quietly, most put up a fight. She doesn’t care either way. Her ambition in life is to find her next hit of coffee and one day, maybe, sleep in a real bed again.

Then Andy’s instincts bring her to Sanctuary and its enigmatic leader, Mason, and even the world after the end of the world will never be the same again…

Warning: Contains a snarky female Reaper with a hair-trigger temper and a caffeine addiction, a hot ex-commando with an attitude and a twisted sense of humour and a happily ever after that defies death itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mad Max world meats female grim reaper November 8, 2011
By JESSIE
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Ok, Take the Mad Max post bomb world, but the cause was not a bomb. The cause was scientist releasing something that morphs DNA into legendary creatures: Vampires, werewolves, banshees, witches, etc. Now take a female who turned into the grim reaper. She walks the roads delivering souls to their afterlife... whether they want to go or not. The female grim reaper reaches one of the isolated besieged "human only" towns. This is where the fun starts. This is one of my favorite Mina Carter's to date. I am reading up on the others, but his one really held me to the end. The romance was very well written. It was not implausible, to fast, or to slow. It was just right. So, if you liked Mad Max and like paranormal romances, this is the book for you.

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
For a book I just selected to fill time in while on a flight this was a great read that really surprised me for how much I enjoyed this book. Well written and actually left me looking to see if more existed in a possible series. For fans of this author it is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars So unexpectedly GREAT! March 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Okay, I'll be honest this was my very first Mina Carter book and I was a little scared and then I was blown away. The end of world stuff always makes my eyes glaze over but her depth of world building, descriptions, actions it all kept me wide awake and didn't skip a single line. The mains were fantastic and the male lead had me trying to figure him out the entire length of the book. Andy KICKED ASS!!! She rocked, total badass and everyone was so afraid of her...except our guy. He was so hot and cool as a cucumber. Who knew that even a reaper had her very own other half.

I love this book, it was action-packed, romantic, interesting and very well developed. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mad Maxine May 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Excellent story and characters. The worst thing about this book was finishing it. I have read a number of books from this author, and this is my favourite by far.
How I wish there were more books set in this world and with the same main characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story but TOO short March 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Ugh, what is up with novellas! This could have been so great as a longer story. I am by no means an author/writer so even 50 pages would be hard for me to come up with, but seriously!

As a whole the story was great! I have read a couple of Mina Carter's books (same complaint as above) and she has such great ideas (just wish they could translate into 300 pages)

I really enjoyed the story but wish it was longer. How about a sequel? This is the first Mina Carter book that I read and I am looking forward to more.

More About the Author

Mina Carter was born and raised in Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England). After a slew of careers ranging from logistics to land-surveying she can now be found in the wilds of Leicestershire with her husband and young daughter...the true boss of the family.

Suffering the curse of eternal curiosity Mina never tires of learning new skills which has led to Aromatherapy, Corsetry, Chain-maille making, Welding, Canoeing, Shooting, and pole-dancing to name but a few. A veteran Star Trek RPGer, she's run both games and groups of games but now finds her home in Alpha Fleet, one of the internet's oldest Star Trek simm groups.

She juggles being a mum, writing full time and tossing another ball in the air with her cover artwork. For Mina, writing time is the wee hours of the morning before anyone wakes up and starts making demands, or any spare minute that can be begged, bought or conned.

Her first stories were penned at age 11, when she used a stationery set meant for Christmas thank you letters to write stories instead. More recently, she wrote for her own amusement and to save on outrageous monthly book bills. Now she's totally addicted and needs her daily writing fix or heads roll!
