We purchased this system a couple of months ago for our motorhome. We just got home from a trip and loved it! Shipping was very fast. I broke a little piece off the monitor stand and they shipped a new one out the same day at no charge. Very nice people. Very easy to install. I installed the wiring under the motorhome while my husband installed the camera and hooked up the power supply. Our rearview mirror inside the motorhome is useless so we intalled the monitor above the mirror and leave the camera on the whole time we are travelling and use it as a rearview mirror. Now we can see our towed vehicle and all the traffic behind us. It eliminates all blind spots. It is just awesome! We feel much more confident now travelling with this camera/monitor system. It works great at night too. We highly recommend this system.

I hooked up everything out of the box to test it. Everything was functional. I did a trial setup on my 5th wheel before starting the permanent installation. I was completely blind when backing this rig up previously, and this system will take care of that basic issue, however, keep your expectations of the image quality on the screen to modest levels. HD it is NOT. A coffee cup laying on its side on the ground appears as a white blob. Bigger objects, especially the ones I don't want to back into, resolve well enough. I suspect the camera is the culprit. Also, the colors are pretty washed out. In very bright conditions it is nearly black and white. Others have noted this. Not a big deal to me, but overall the screen image is only functional and frankly, rather disappointing. I have not seen any $600 high end systems to compare, but I did not want to spend that much. As always you get what you pay for.

The camera housing is solid and appears tight. There are four screws for adjusting and holding camera and shade angles. One of the screws on my unit was cross threaded. I can fix it, though most folks would probably need to send the camera back for a replacement.

My other beef is that the cab and camera cables come "ready to use" with the bulkhead style weather proof fittings already soldered on. Unless you are willing to tape the cable to the outside of your rig you are going to have to cut off the big fittings so you can feed the cables through small holes and along framework, etc., then re-solder the fittings back on once the cables are routed. The fittings themselves are Amphenol style knockoffs at a tenth of the quality, but again, functional. Time will tell how well they stand up to water and weather.

I just installed the Rear View Camera system in my 2003 Ford E350 "box van" as a
backup camera, and I have to say the construction of the camera is SOLID. VERY
heavy-duty build quality that looks like it will last. Performance is also very
good - in all but the sunniest of conditions, where it's a little washed out. I
have the monitor mounted on the windshield right where the rear-view mirror
would be installed (as my van has no mirror - no rear window!).

Now for the "cons":

1. The connector at the end of the camera wire is quite large. In my case, the
camera is mounted to a 1/8" stainless steel frame at the top/rear of the truck.
The camera connector calls for a 5/8" or larger hole to be drilled (larger if
you wish to use the included rubber grommet). That is fine if drilling a thin-skin
camper side. But 1/8" stainless is another matter altogether! I had to
buy a $20 5/8" bit, and it took 6 smaller holes to be drilled first before the
large bit would finish the cut. This single hole took 30 minutes in all to
accomplish. At even at that, it still wasn't big enough for the grommet, which
I abandoned and used caulk instead - I would have had to buy a larger bit to
make the 1" grommet fit. All of this could have been avoided if the connector
were smaller or better still, be just pig-tails to a connector block.

2. The way the camera and sun shield go together is just silly. It takes 3 arms,
and 19 fingers to line up all the holes and 6 screws. I had to do this installation
9 feet up a ladder! It ended up that I decided to modify the mount slightly - I
simply used a single screw (they are tiny - 4/40 or smaller, 3/16" long!

After shopping around and reading some poor reviews on wireless backup cameras, I made the choice to go with this package. Partly because on my SUV, I don't mind a big honkin' camera mounted on the back, but mostly because I wanted options. Options like: plug in another camera upfront for off roading, a DVD player or what ever the future might bring. The camera has sound. The monitor is big, has a remote and earphone option that could be used to plug directly into your sound system.

Additionally, I liked everything being hard wired, durable, great infrared for reverse and once up and running, the quality of image. In direct comparison to my wife's CX-7 back up camera, this one is hands down way better. She even said something the first day she used it. As for installation, I would have liked to see more directions on what screws and nuts are supposed to go where but it was easy enough to figure out. Took a few hours to really get it in there and hide wires. You have the option of wiring it to your reverse lights or simply turning it on. The price is twice what a decent camera goes for but I think it was worth it.
