Book Description

Lane Douglas is a die-hard realist, so when her superstitious grandfather tells her he will die if the tree planted long ago in his honor in Scotland is chopped down, she doesn't buy it for a second. But when her grandfather's health starts a downward slide, Lane hops on a plane and flies across the ocean to convince the landowner to spare the old, diseased oak. To her surprise the landowner is a devilishly handsome man named Conlan MacGregor. Practical Lane came prepared for a fight to save a silly tree, but she soon finds herself fighting to save her heart from falling under the magical charms of the hunky laird of Wolfscrag castle.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Believe! February 22, 2009
Format:Paperback
I just finished this wonderful book, and HAD to let everyone know how good it is! I have a personal weakness for Scottish men, and Conlan MacGregor does not disappoint! And Laney is the kind of strong heroine that all of us want to be! Ms. Dennis did an excellent job of finding the compromise between the two main characters and their strong personalities. Not only do we get to be immersed in the culture and legends of Scotland, but we get to see a truly beautiful love story develop. And can we talk about the love scenes? HOT, HOT, HOT! There just aren't enough good things I can say about this book. If you like romance that has a great plot and multifaceted characters, then this is a read for you. It gave me a reason to believe in Ms. Dennis, and a definite reason to read her next book!

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 Hearts from TRS! October 22, 2009
Format:Paperback
"This is a wonderfully charming tale of the ultimate power of belief. The mind is a powerful tool and many things that can not be rationally explained may prove to be true because someone believed! Lane is almost too much of a realist; her cynicism may cost her the wonder and fantasy that makes life exciting and fun. Conlan doesn't walk around with his head in the clouds yet he manages to still believe that not all things can be rationally explained. Plus whether Conlan believes the old tales or not, they are a part of his history and family traditions so he has no intention of ignoring them. When Lane and Conlan meet there is instant chemistry but true to their natures, Lane denies there is anything but lust in what she feels for Conlan while Conlan is more open to exploring what they have with an open mind. I loved this tale, but then I love to embrace a child like wonder of things that are unexplained! Ms. Dennis will leave you questioning what you believe about superstitions and old tales and beliefs. Could there really be a kernel of truth behind the stories your parents and grandparents told you as a child? Reason to Believe is a fun, entertaining, feel good read that will leave you with a sense of wonder and hope!" - Steph B.

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 STARS! October 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It was a unique storyline, and interesting. This is one of those stories where I loved Colan , and at times was annoyed with Lane and how she treated Colan. But it was sweet at times and the lovemaking was very mild - not very descriptive. I know one reviewer said it was HOT HOT HOT, but I disagree. They made love twice (within marriage), and you could feel the love and passion, but not over the top. I am not going into the premise of the story, but it is sweet, about superstitions that Scottish people grew up on, that made the story interesting. It is set in a castle in modern times. There isn't a lot of suspense, nor intrigue, but a sweet story about a girls love for her grandfather and what she will do to improve his health. (ljb)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Long-Time Favorite February 22, 2009
By Janon
Format:Paperback
I read this story as the author's critique partner when it was newly written, and I fell in love with it immediately. To this day, it remains my favorite of her wonderful stories. Not only do the characters come to life and jump off the page enough to make you forget the real world around you, but Lane and Conlan's love affair is utterly convincing, even amidst a magical plot based on charming Scottish legends. Reason to Believe is such a lovely, romantic, FUN read--I highly recommend it for anyone who LOVES LOVE!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance! October 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this book! It is a wonderful romance story. I would like my own Conlan please! Lane is a bit unbending about her beliefs and I would hope in the real world someone would not be condescending about another one beliefs. But she does learn as the book progresses. If you want a wonderful love story with a hot Scotsman this is your book!

5.0 out of 5 stars In love with this book. October 3, 2013

This story is so sweet and entertaining that you do not want to say goodbye to the characters. The accent and the folklore were so real that the author either has lived in Scotland or she is very talented or both.

More About the Author

Leslie Ann Dennis lives in northwest Louisiana, minutes from the Texas border, with Brandon, her husband of thirteen years, and their three very-spoiled dogs: Cody, Zoe and Bailey. There isn't one set genre she is more comfortable writing, be it hot/spicy romances, romantic comedies, sci-fi or even erotic romance. Last thing that should probably be mentioned is her name. Although it is her true name, whenever anyone addresses her as "Leslie Ann", she immediately thinks she's in trouble. (Thank her folks for that!)
