Nu-metal done right.,
By rock 4 da dead "dead man" (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Reason for Motion (Audio CD)
Manic drive is nu-metal that can be compared to bands like linkin park and seether without being as heavy. And while this may sound like something thats been done a million times there is still a lot thats unique about these guys. The vocals for instance are great to listen, the emotion pours throug. The music can go from being heavy(something more, nebulous) to soft(middle of it all, memories) to downright agreesive(Aimlessly, crying) in manic drive uses old methods such as rapping and turn table stuff to make this sound like most nu-metal but it does just enough to distinguish itself with good lyrics and some talented playing.

New to me,

I had heard the song Memories on the radio a few times, and everytime I was like - WOW, who is that? So now, I've finally tracked it down and this band rocks this song. I love it...the fact that they've been around for so long (this is the 5th album!) and still have that desire to do this for Christ and actually (gasp!) use His name in their heartfelt songs is AMAZING! My props to them indefinately! Sure, I've only heard bits of the other songs - but Memories is AWESOME! Praise God some of these guys are more interested in following God than making money. Check it out!

I didn't know who Manic Drive was until I stumbled upon them on Amazon and listened to their samplings. I'm really into Christian music and also like to find the not-so mainstream jewels. This is one of those! These guys have a good sound, they rock it pretty hard on most songs (good ole rockin' guitar in background and pleasant vocals, I'm not into the screamo thing). Many times with all the crossover these days its hard to know if a band is really a Christian band (living for Jesus) or not. These guys have a good message, but don't come out and sing about Christ, so I still have to do some homework. There's just something tiny missing from the sound that kept me from giving this album the 5th star. But certainly good enough that my next purchase is their follow-up album - Reset and Rewind

Amazing Band,
This review is from: Reason for Motion (Audio CD)
I bought this CD on a whim, and boy was it worth every penny. Its not to easy to find a CD that every song on the CD is a good one. But these guys do, and do it well. They are a Christian band and are really blessed with an amazing gift. They have both rock songs and stuff you can sing in church. With just this one CD, they became one of my favorite bands. Hope you hear more of their tracks and decide to get this CD as part of your collection.
