Sure you dislike the bad guy character and hope he gets his due but you don't hate him and you don't really love the good guy either.

When you consider how many laws are broken, there is no way the ending should be the way that it is.

Reasonable Doubt tells the tale of a prosecutor who gets involved in a hit and run on a snowy day. The next day he finds out that an innocent person has been wrongly arrested and charged with the crime. It turns out the person is not as innocent as he thought.

The film, not counting the credits, is only one hour and twenty minutes long. The film moves by quickly. The problem is that, in that time, there are so many twists in the plot that one may wonder whether or not this film was too short. There are certain scenes that could used some additional explanation.

The worst part of the movie is easily the ending. It makes no sense. When you consider how many laws are broken, there is no way the ending should be the way that it is. Obviously, I don't want to give it away, but, let's just say, it is highly unreasonable.

I give the film three stars. It is watchable for one time only viewing. After that, the movie will be quickly forgotten and you will have moved on in your life.

Mitch Brockden (Dominic Cooper) is from South Chicago with a checkered past and criminal step-brother. He has been able to hide much of this as he is a family man climbing the ladder as a city prosecutor. He doesn't lose cases. After a night out with the boys he drives intoxicated and hits another man. He calls 911 then flees the scene. Clinton Davies (Samuel L. Jackson) is arrested for the murder after police find the bloody body in his vehicle. Clinton claimed he found him in the road. Mitch must prosecute Clinton for a crime that he himself committed.

Now that could make a good movie in itself, except it gets really twisty. There are decent clues dropped along the way for the twists, so they don't come too unexpected...except maybe that one thing. The courtroom drama is over after 30 minutes and the rest of the film becomes a crime drama with Samuel L. Jackson in a fitting role.

Parental Guide: Infrequent F-bomb (One I recall). No sex or nudity.

Reasonable doubt is about a district attorney (Cooper) whose life is turned upside down when he's involved in a hit and run and another man (Jackson) is arrested for his crime and charged with murder only to find that the story isn't quite what it seems.

This movie is ok but a very predictable thriller. Jackson as always does a commendable job in the role. The real issue is the plot is a bit unbelievable and erratic at times with an ending that is really not very good. I can accept the improbable actions that the attorney does in the movie but he breaks all sorts of laws and in the end nothing really happens. It is almost like the movie was cut short for some reason or another with some of the important scenes on the cutting room floor.

This is ok for renting to watch but this movies plot, ending and presentation could have been much better to create more suspense than it really did and keep it from being a higher rated movie.

This was a terrible movie. Plot was completely implausible, acting was terrible, and the plot was ridiculous. Shame on Samuel L. Jackson for even taking the part!

I would give it negative stars if possible.

It probably wouldn't matter if I put spoilers in this review because you would have them figured out in the first 20 minutes of the movie anyway. I'm quite surprised that Mr. Jackson took this role. It's quite cliché.

I didn't hate it but Samuel L Jackson has been in better films. Its an "I'm a lawyer and above the law, oh no I ran over a guy, oh no I was framed. Oh no, I'm in jail, no wait, I'm not any more, oh well, everything is ok" kind of movie. Doesn't seem to be very well thought out and in a few places looks like critical plot point scenes are missing.

District Attorney, Mitch Brockden (Dominic Cooper), goes out one night to celebrate a big victory, and fearing for the safety of his car, in a bad neighborhood, decides to drive home drunk. On the way, he hits a kills a man, running across the street. Another man, Clinton Davis (Samuel L. Jackson) is charged with the crime and it's Brockden's job to prosecute the man accused of committing his crime. Not wanting to convict an innocent man, Brockden blows the case, but afterwards finds out that the wounds on the man he hit, were not consistent with being hit by a car, and match the wounds of seven unsolved homicide victims. Now Brockden must find out if he mistakenly let a serial killer go free. Reasonable Doubt, unlike many similar films, actually had a unique and original story. Both Dominic Cooper and Samuel L. Jackson were terrific, and the film really could have been the hidden gem of the year, but only got 3.5 stars. The reason is simple, while it was a great story, it was far too predictable to be what it could have been. I really it hate when the Writers assume that the audience is too dumb to figure out what's going on. That's what happens here, while the story is tremendous, everything is laid out in such a way, that even a child would know what would happen next. Aside from that, the great story and terrific cast make for an exciting film, that was quite enjoyable, but it was just predictable to a fault.
