5.0 out of 5 stars Powerfully useful in so many areas of the Christian life!
As someone who has struggled with ten to twenty pounds for fourty years, I have read just about every book on the market and tried most of the diets-diet pills, etc.. My journey has been more because of wanting to be my best as a Christian and feeling that that is my responsibility, than with vanity. Reasonably Thin, by Jesse Dillinger is the first book I've read...

2.0 out of 5 stars Let the Reader Beware
Jesse Dillinger's book and her concepts have obviously benefitted a whole lot of folks -- both the one's she quotes in her writing and those who have written review's here. I am thankful that God uses a variety of means to help people with problems and that folks have benefitted from her work.

Having said that, let the reader beware of Reasonably Thin's weak...

This review is from: Reasonably Thin (Paperback)
As someone who has struggled with ten to twenty pounds for fourty years, I have read just about every book on the market and tried most of the diets-diet pills, etc.. My journey has been more because of wanting to be my best as a Christian and feeling that that is my responsibility, than with vanity. Reasonably Thin, by Jesse Dillinger is the first book I've read which takes the approach of bringing God maximum glory by eliminating the issue rather than trying to control it. This thrills my heart, as this is my goal for my life- to bring him maximum glory. I think chapters 10 and 11 where she deals with Eve's part in all of this and talks about eating for illegitimate reasons are brilliant. Her insights throughout the book are remarkably revealing and helpful to all the areas of my life. This book is extremely deep in its implications yet so easy to read and understand that a child could manage it. Great writing - easy reading and powerfully useful to the Christian life. I hope Ms. Dillinger writes many more books! Everyone could use a therapist like her!

I loved "Reasonably THIN". I wish I had found this book a long time ago. I loved the case scenarios. I want to move to San Diego so I could counsel with Ms. Dillinger on a regular basis. The book really touched my life, and I plan to buy a copy for a friend, as well as one for my sister. Please keep writing, I'd love to read more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful resource for those struggling to live a godly life, October 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Reasonably Thin (Paperback)
The author, a Christian counselor, provides encouragement and advice through a Bible based approach to problems related to food (over-eating or under-eating). While similar in tone to the Weigh Down Workshop, this book manages to take the focus off food and hunger. The reader is reminded that the goal of a Christian's life is to live to glorify God. God wants us to be happy, not burdened by guilt over poor eating habits. Bible study and prayer are essential elements and many examples are given in the text.

As someone who has, for years, given food power over my emotions, Ms. Dillinger provides sensible guidelines for future sprititual growth. I thank God that this book was published. It will minister to many people, I'm sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars great help to life long weight control, September 12, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Reasonably Thin (Paperback)
I loved this book!! this book is not emotionally based like wiegh down or slavery like diets. I appreciate that she nevers tells me how much I am supposed to weigh. Nor is the book filled with pages of formerly fat people bragging about weight loss. This is a book that causes you to reason with yourself and your God on how to control your weight.

God, through this book, has freed me from the bondage of destructive eating. I have been through many food and weight programs. This book is the last piece of the puzzle for me. I now know that I am free. My goal is to glorify God. The eating plan is so simple!Thank you God and Jesse! I learned so much about my thoughts, being passive and active relates not only to food but to every aspect of my life. I am praying God wishes me to begin a prayer group/book study of this book at my church.I want to be a servant to help others be free!Praise God!

5.0 out of 5 stars A process that works...., November 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Reasonably Thin (Paperback)
Reasonably Thin, for me, is not just about weight, but rather about living free. Changing my thinking, changes me in every way, and Jesse Dillinger teaches how to do just that in this book. For the reader working on not being in "bondage" to anything, the process Jesse suggests works. I am grateful for this book and the truth it presents. Though written for everyone, this speaks to the individual. It is like sitting with a friend who knows the way to the otherside of where we are.

By A Customer
This review is from: Reasonably Thin (Paperback)
"Reasonably Thin" was easy to read, insightful, and beneficial. I will use these biblical principles in many areas of my life.

The author presents case scenarios and discusses the thought process behind specific behaviors. She then brings a biblical perspective into the situation and offers tools that the readers can use to bring about needed change in their own lives.

The process described by Jesse Dillinger is simple, sound, and always directs its reader back to godly truths.

Very good book. The guidelines presented can be used in all areas of life, not just eating "encumbrances". Uses the bible to guide our thinking on this issue. Good for men and women.
