This is a top notch collection of songs. Roughly assembled around the theme of reasons for being a Christian, they do branch out into our responsibilities as Christians as well. "Reasons" starts out this CD with this cry, and then the rest of the disc responds.

An obvious theme for several songs is the love of God, which is covered in "Living in the Light of Your Love," "I Know a Love," "Draw Me Near," and "Nothing in all of the World." All are excellent songs, but my favorite is the upbeat, I don't care attitude of "I Got You." These also cover the topics of God's constant presence in our lives.

The response side takes a few different approaches, but the songs have a central theme of sharing our faith with others. That is obviously the case with "Say it with Love" and "Stand." "The Door" offers a challenging reminder that we need to be the way for others to come to Christ.

I've saved my personal favorite for last. Ever since I first heard it, I've loved the analogy of "Alcatraz." Not only does the idea of being freed from the prison of sin resonate, but it's got such a catchy tune that I can find myself singing it for days. And yes, I still have my old Alcatraz T-Shirt from the supporting concert for this CD, too.

Al Denson had backed off his original rock style for most of this CD, featuring more Christian adult contemporary music on his fourth CD. I've owned it since it first came out in 1993, and still find encouragement and challenge from every song in this collection.

REASONS is one of the best CDs by Al Denson. Having seen him twice in concert during two different tours, I've experienced the pleasure of hearing this artist at his best.

THE DOOR is the best song on the CD. It relates how the door of the heart is open to all who would believe.

ALCATRAZ is an interesting take on how accepting Jesus in their lives is like having someone freeing you from the worst prison on earth Alcatraz.
