This review is from: 99 Reasons Why No One Knows When Christ Will Return (Paperback)
An entertaining, well-researched book on an important topic. The authors describe dozens of attempts, throughout the Christian era, to predict the date of Christ's return. This gives a valuable corrective to current prophets of the future.

The book's format makes it easy to find information on a particular aspect which interests you.

Worth reading by anyone who has an interest in eschatology.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is dated, but still useful and worth reading now!, January 2, 2010
This review is from: 99 Reasons Why No One Knows When Christ Will Return (Paperback)
During this New Year Of 2010 I found this book, which I hadn't read in a long time. A lot has happened (including the whole Bush Administration) but the central message of the book is still helpful.

I grew up in a Bible-reading Christian family. I learned a lot about the Bible and one thing that was always EXTREMELY clear about it was that nobody knows the day or the hour that Christ will return. Even if we think we see "trends" in the direction, we still don't know!

This book written in response to 88 REASONS WHY CHRIST WILL RETURN IN 1988 (I think that's the wording of the title) gives 99 reasons given from the Bible itself that we can't set dates. And with all of the extremes of apocalyptic fervor around nowadays, this book can get us back on track.

There's nothing wrong with believing in Christ's return and getting ready for it. But nowhere does the Bible -- including the Apocalypse (book of Revelation) -- tell us to to part company with our common sense.
