Book Description

July 24, 2012
52 Reasons... is an analysis of Barack Obama's actions as President of the United States. Candidate Obama burst onto the political scene capturing the hearts and minds of voters with his charisma and hope-filled promises. Since gaining office, Obama has done all he can to fulfill those promises, though there have been strategically placed roadblocks along the way. Bernard Whitman has compiled this book as a guide for voters; a tool that we, the American people, can use to help in one of the most important decisions we ever have to make: who to vote into office as the President of the United States of America.

4.0 out of 5 stars gave it a read, glad I did. September 6, 2012
Format:Hardcover
I'm not a big fan of Obama OR Romney and I wouldn't say this book turned me into a full blown Obama supporter. What I WILL say is that the points it makes are important and not talked about enough in today's media. With so much useless nonsense on TV, there isn't enough focus on the facts, and that is what this book offers. Of course there are a number of "reasons" in it that are just opinion ("He's cool") but by and large the author has laid out a range of important facts and has evidence to back them up. It's easy to blame the president for things that haven't gone right, but that doesn't mean his accomplishments should be forgotten. I don't know who I will vote for in November but this book did remind me that Obama has done a lot and that Romney is not a true friend of the middle class. This is a good and easy read.

4.0 out of 5 stars one reason to read 52 reasons September 23, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Factual and direct to the point. If you have doubts about which candidate should receive your worthy vote and you are a rational, pragmatic, intelligent citizen - concerned about the future of this country - this well written, entertaining book should help you decide. Facts are facts - the problem is they seldom trump bias...excuse the pun.

I got my hands on an advance copy of this book (shh!) and love it. With the election coming up in fewer than 100 days, 52 Reasons To Vote For Obama makes a clear and compelling case for the President's re-election and what it means for America.

Compared to other politically-minded books out there, 52 Reasons To Vote For Obama isn't the same old polemic from some talk-radio host or pseudo-celebrity.

This book gives you a well-researched list of facts and accomplishments in a real-world context, and is a fun, easy, read.

If you're a supporter of President Obama, read this book so you've got the firepower you need to discuss and debate with friends.

If you're not going to vote for President Obama, read this book to better understand what you (and Mitt Romney) are up against!

And if you're still on the fence, you'd better read this book and brush up on your information because the election is coming up soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read August 9, 2012
Format:Hardcover
As someone who is newly interested in politics this is a must read. I'm a Democrat, but given my new found interest politics I often find myself in political discussions where I don't have the facts to back up my point. We'll I don't have to worry about that anymore. 52 Reasons is a great guide towards all the successes of Obama's presidency.

Now I have all the facts for my political discussions, if only it was pocket size so I can carry it around with me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Informative but biased view September 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As an Obama supporter I was interested in hearing another supporter's view of the President. However, it was hard to take the author seriously since he is so obviously biased in favor of him. Given the title that shouldn't have been a surprise but I found the book, written at the fourth grade level, an insult to my intelligence.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Republican August 9, 2012
By Dagny
Format:Hardcover
Whitman is an excellent writer who wrote a very compelling book! He was limited by the material with which our president gave him but he made the most with what was there...very impressive and worth the read, regardless of one's political affiliation.

Many of the 52 things listed are promises that Obama still has not
kept and in some cases looks like he will never keep.

Others show the author crediting Obama for signing laws that both republican and democrats
supported and helped pass.

And of course he gives Obama credit for basically everything that has gone right in the country in the last four years

I also don't think that circumventing congress with an executives order on immigration(# 19)
is worthy of praise. We should have a balance of powers in this country

The natural audience of this book are people who are already going to vote for Obama. the author is simply playing to his audience. i don't see this book convincing any undecided voters to go over to Obama side.

P.s. it seems that the author ran out of real reason halfway though hence the inlcusion of joke reasons #40 The Dude can shoot hoops, 41# Malia & sasha, 42# the guy can sing, 43# his huge smile, 44# he drives the right crazy. 45# our dogs will be safe and 48# He's cool. These are not really reasons and makes me wonder if this entire book is meant to be a joke.
