5.0 out of 5 stars Gave me direction February 17, 2013
I recently searched for Journaling Apps in hopes of finding a tool to help me capture my thoughts in addition to notes for work via my iphone or ipad. My search lead me to EasyJournaling.com. On Easy Journaling I found 101 Reasons To Write A Journal to be one of several great resources for guidance where I had none with respect to what and why to journal. In today's world of sound bites where everyone wants things smaller and quicker, Sam Lytle's writing style presents an easy flow that gets to the point quickly with witty, stimulating and thought provoking narrative on his reasons to Journal. I am a beginner to journaling but think this book is a great read for Journaling newbies and veterans alike.

This was a great read. Would definitely recommend. I wish I had started writing a journal years ago. In one of my classes we had to write a journal entry everyday and it was ackward for me because I was not sure what to write. Lots of reasons in this ebook why an individual should start writing a journal.

5.0 out of 5 stars How many more reasons do you need? March 1, 2013

While not all the 101 reasons were for me, there were some that definitely hit a chord. While I didn't become an avid journaler because of reading this book, it has at least given me a few more reasons to take more time and write more.

My only advice is that if you have the Kindle set the background color to something other than white then there will be blocks of white behind some of the text, so just change the background color back to white and it's all good!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing new in here September 12, 2013

If you're a newbie writer looking to journal, you might get some helpful advice.
For anyone who has been journaling for over six months, I don't think you'll
find anything in the book that would be new and helpful.

Here are some reasons that you should write a journal. I think the author captures these in a very succinct way in his writing. Some of the reasons to keep a journal are to capture ideas before they are gone and then of course to improve your own writing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't anyone else find the formatting confusing? November 12, 2013

The Kindle version on my computer is really hard to read. Many of the paragraphs began with a word that doesn't make a complete sentence. At least one title of something, maybe a website, was in blue text, but only one word of the title was there. Many paragraphs did not end in complete sentences either. The formatting of new sections had a very large space between the number of the idea and the title so the title ran long into the next line when it might have all fit on the same line together. Here is an example of idea number fifty-six:

56. (insert huge space here) Develop plot-building skills.
"And then, I carefully walked around the corner. The scraping noise was incessant! What could be making that noise? Oh, the cat, of course."

[Writing a journal can help you learn] plot-building skills. Someday you may even think about writing a novel. You think writing a novel is an arduous, nearly impossible task? Try doing it in a month! That is exactly what the organizers of National [Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) propose]

Lytle, Samuel L. (2013-02-14). 101 Reasons to Write a Journal (Kindle Locations 2061-2074). . Kindle Edition.

The sections in brackets [] are not visible in my copy of the book, but they showed up when I copied and pasted here. What is that all about!?! No wonder it doesn't' make sense. I'll have to check with customer service about that.
