Book Description

November 10, 2010
This anthology contains contributions by authors who study nature, place, land, and Earth up close with tools from a variety of disciplines, including qualitative research, naturalist exploration, philosophy, mythology, and even poetry. By closing the gap between self and world, these essays show the reader how to feel the presence of landscapes, creatures, and things inwardly, an experience that transforms how we regard the world around us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Chalquist's work continues to reach new people November 21, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
When existing ways to engage living on this planet are adapted, sometimes shifts take hold quickly, sometimes slowly, sometimes they fade away or are reabsorbed into their parental paradigms.

Craig Chalquist, Ph.D. is successfully shifting and synthesizing a background in ecology, history, psychology and archetypal mythology, through the medium of qualitative research, into a new intersubjective relationship with our planet, and the other beings on it with whom we co-exist. His initial book on this work, Terrapsychology: Reengaging The Soul Of Place, was published in 2007.

Now, in 2010, the fruit of his teaching, writing and activism is available in the first anthology showing how terrapsychology is influencing the life and work of two dozen of his students and associates. In Rebearths: Conversations with a World Ensouled, Dr. Chalquist allows those associates to show the vision, transformative power, and creativity inherent in terrapsychology.

This anthology contains a wide variety of approaches. While all chapters include personal engagement, many describe the results of scholarly research. Some are academic examinations of this emerging discipline. Some contributors share specific ways they use terrapsychology to inform and engage others. A poet provides her unique vision. I found that the stories and perspectives in this anthology grabbed my attention in ways I hadn't anticipated, taught me new things, and deepened my desire to jump in and see what I can experience and share with others by using and expanding the methodologies of terrapsychology.
