I love to send my 5 year old granddaughter the mini American Girl Dolls. This way she can enjoy all of the different dolls and take them along with her when she wants and they talk and play with each other etc. The big dolls are beautiful but so expensive and more than one or two take up too much room. I have sent her 5 other mini American Girls already.

My daughter loves American Girl and she has two in the mini version. Yes, they are expensive and I will probably never buy one of the bigger dolls, but their clothes are detailed and the whole product comes across as a more "upscale" product than most of the dolls in this category. The book that comes with the mini doll is small and almost useless.

I did buy a full-sized American Doll look-a-like at Target (I think it is called Our Generation) for a lot less money than the original American Girl doll. My daughter loves it as well, and although I think it is a "lesser" product she doesn't think so and I guess that is all that matters...

BTW, just checked the Our Generation doll prices here on Amazon and some of them are absolutely outrageous - get it at Target if you can't find it for a fair price here.

The description gives the impression that the book is a mini version of the full book, but it really only contains 3 chapters, ending abruptly, and it appears this is not the full book. This should have been disclosed.

This mini doll of Rebecca, the newest American Girl, is a wonderful alternative to the costly larger version. It looks like the regular size doll, with the same facial features and proportions. Like the 18 inch doll, the neck, shoulders, and hip sockets are posable (although the eyes do not blink). Also like the regular doll, this one comes with Rebecca's "meet" outfit and a mini (and abridged) version of her first book, "Meet Rebecca."

Visually, this mini doll looks almost as good as the 18 inch doll. The hair is lovely, with a barrette, side part, and soft curls (the mini dolls with bangs are another story, however--the hair is attached a different way from the regular dolls and the bangs end up WAY to poofy), although it may be mussed from being in a box. Her outfit is complete, and almost as cute as the larger size. My main complaint with the dress is that it unfortunately looks a little bit too large for the doll. Also, the buttons are just gold fabric and the boots are a rather flimsy leather and fasten with velcro rather than buttons.

I would recommend this mini doll to anyone who wants a Rebecca doll but doesn't want to--or can't--spend almost $100 on it.

The mini dolls are much more affordable than the 18" version dolls. They are of a higher quality than Barbie dolls and can be played with much like a Barbie. The doll clothes are removable. My daughter loves playing with these mini versions and has begun to collect them. She has 4 regular sized American girl dolls as well but plays with the mini ones more. She is 6 years old.

My daughter has begun to collect the mini American Girl dolls. She has enjoyed them very much. You not only recieve a miniture version of the original doll, but you also recieve with it a hard cover copy of the first book in that doll's series. We purchased two in this transaction - one for my daughter and one for her friend. Her friend's mother called and said that her daughter was so excited. Previously she had purchased the original size doll, for each book series, when her daughter completed reading the series of books for that doll. With the present economy and their families financial situation though, they are no longer able to do this. Her daugher was so excited when she recieved Rebecca and told her mother that now she can collect the mini dolls and still continue her American Girl doll collection! Amazon offers a great deal on the dolls. In my opinion it's the way to go!

My daughter wanted an American Girl doll for Christmas and they are just way out of our price range. Decided to give these a try, so bought 3 for all 3 of our girls - Rebecca, Molly and Felicity. They are a little small, but adorable. Girls love them so that's all that counts!

I thought I was getting the book with the doll. I was disappointed that the book wasn't with the doll because I read the product description and it sounded like it would be included. Doll is nice though.

This "American Doll" epidemic started when i got a brochure in the mail and passed along to her.. She was HOOKED from the very moment she opened the first page! I figure I would buy her a mini one to test the waters and see if she is mature enough to handle the regular sized $100 doll! She loves her and takes her every where. I'm very satisfied and plan on purchasing the full size doll from my number one online store...AMAZON.COM

I bought this doll for my wife thats now 26. I asked her when she was younger (both of our parents didnt have alot of cash) what did she always want and she replied "American Girl Doll". So now that she 26 years old i feel it would look kind of weird for her to have a full size doll, so this kills two birds with one stone. Small enough to have with out looking weird and big enough to make her happy.
