Garry Fisher is a self-professed "Air Force brat" and life-long War Between the States enthusiast. Rebel Cornbread and Yankee Coffee, his first book, was born of his fascination with how the common soldiers of the war--the rank and file on both sides who did the bulk of the fighting and dying--lived day-to-day.
A career banker by day, Garry is member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a supporting member of the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, and a member of the North Carolina Civil War Roundtable. Born in Japan, he lived in Wyoming, Colorado, California, and in Charlotte, North Carolina, before returning to the land of his Moravian ancestors and settling down in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He lives there with his wife Zela, and their two children, Andrea and Christopher. Garry is currently working on a second Civil War book, a history of his great-great grandfather's Georgia artillery battery.
