Book Description

Fate will have her way…

Eliza Terribury is determined to be the first of her sisters to evade her mother’s attempts to shoo her down the aisle. Her novel-writing dreams will wither under the demands placed on a gentleman’s wife.

Saddled with his title at a young age, Michael Gerard, the elusive Marquess of Rutherford, has always done his duty, but he will not be pressured into choosing a wife. He just never expected the rush of attraction every time the impertinent young Eliza crosses his path.

When a completely innocent incident leaves Rutherford’s hands in a compromising position on Eliza’s bare skin, they have no choice but to announce an engagement. Privately, they agree to seek a way out of the unwanted nuptials.

Yet Eliza’s free spirit and understated sensuality stirs Michael’s desire. And Eliza discovers there is more to the arrogant lord than meets the eye, especially when she wonders if it is purely her writer’s imagination that puts his face behind a mysterious highwayman’s mask.

Warning: Contains one haughty lord with the body of a medieval warrior, a seventh daughter with attitude to spare, and one tricky spider with eight legs guided by Fate.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm smitten :) May 5, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well Leif was always going to be a tough act to follow, but it's been done, and cleverly. By showing Rutherford through the eyes of women who look below his surface (the first hints are from Abbigael in Reckless Viscount), Sandas takes him from stuffy arrogant jerk to a delectable hero with an irresistible hidden sense of humour. Eliza is one of those heroines with that 'light and bright and sparkling' quality - impertinent and intelligent, flawed and young. I loved the banter between these two and how their intimacy unconsciously developed. I'm trying to be careful not to spoil, but surprisingly one of my favourite scenes is when Eliza is reprimanded by her mother. Whilst I don't think Eliza could have behaved any other way, it wasn't until then that I realized the enormity of it, and how young and inexperienced she really was. And during that scene her mother literally 'popped' in my head from a simple comic relief type of character, to a real, caring parent.
Honestly, I have been looking forward to the release of this book and I was not disappointed. I read it in one day and will read it again soon. It was an absolute treat, and just what I needed today. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars REBEL MARQUESS~ July 19, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This book left me in a state of confusion. I do not know whether I like Eliza. I love her vivacity, ambition, sense of humor, and for sticking to her guns. Yet I cannot help feeling some of her decisions were very rash, at times childish, and those of an immature, selfish girl, as her mother said. Of course, age plays a huge role in this matter and she is only nineteen. One has to admire her tenacity. What I did not get was why she could not sit with any of her sisters at some point and discuss her misconceptions regarding marriage. So set in her mind about her observations, she refused to consider feelings of people close to her apart from wanting ‘to be happy.’ On the other hand, she is more than a match for the positively wicked Michael. Their interactions are funny, lively, and I could not help but feel their sorrow and sympathize with them both toward the end. Not Ms. Sandas' best work, but still a sensuous emotional read which may leave a warm smile on your face.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great easy reading July 16, 2014

A great book, very light & lovely. I do like to come across something like this once in a while. There is not much plot or drama with a villain but it's not needed because of very good writing, interesting and very likable characters, story that's makes you laugh. Sometimes I like to read something that would twist me inside and will stay with me for a long time and not always in a good way, but sometimes I just want to be reminded about all goodness in the world, and something that would make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. This book does it. Definitely recommend for a very enjoyable reading. No problems to solve, no dark twisted minds to understand, just relax & enjoy. Like a cup of iced tea on a hot summer day!

Wonderfully written so you feel like you know the characters and can feel the emotions that they are feeling! I was hooked after the first page and couldn't believe it when I got to the end as it seemed like I had just started it!

2.0 out of 5 stars 2.5 Heroine is just too stubborn June 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Eliza Terribury is a heroine who I liked for most of this novel and then she becomes someone I really didn't admire at the end of the novel. For this reason, Rebel Marquess does not merit above 2.5 stars.

Eliza has a mamma who has high ambitions for her daughters. She wants them to make excellent matches and her mother has always wanted to add Michael Gerard, the Marquess of Rutherford as one of her son-in-laws. She has been unsuccessful but her machinations are well honed by time youngest daughter Eliza s on the marriage mart.

Eliza never wants to marry she only wants to publish her romantic novels. She has never had any true romance herself but has a pretty active imagination. She fears a husband will not allow her to write and feels he will stifle her life. Michael knows he will marry one day but he is in no hurry and he certainly does not want to marry into the Terribury family.

Unfortunately Eliza and Michael are caught in a compromising position and they agree to a pretend engagement. They both do not want to marry and they figure they will find a way to escape the betrothal at a more opportune time.

Eliza really likes Michael who is witty and charming. Still she stubbornly keeps her mantra of "I will never marry." Eliza is at heart a romantic yet does not really believe in romance and the power of love and acceptance. She writes of love but cannot recognize it in her own life nor can she understand its life altering power.

Michael is emotionally smarter that Eliza. He makes a mistake here and there but of the two, he is much more willing to change his course when love takes hold of his heart. He is a passionate man and an honorable one too.

More About the Author

Amy's love of romance began one summer when she was thirteen and complained of boredom. She ended up with one of her mother's Barbara Cartland books and an obsessive interest that expanded from there. Her affinity for writing began with sappy pre-teen poems and led to a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on Creative Writing from the University of Minnesota--Twin Cities.

She writes in the early mornings while her young kids are still asleep and dreams of a future when she can write all day instead of going to her "other" job. In the evenings, Amy is a full-time wife and mother who enjoys pizza, wine and dark brooding heroes...namely, her husband.
