Pawn--Or Power?

On the world called Plateau, telepathy has become the prime source of power, an unopposed weapon with which the ruling elite, the Uppers, can keep an oppressed population under strict control. But when Regan, a daughter of aristocrats, fails to claim her telepathic heritage, she becomes a mere pawn in her father's deadly political games, married off to Gareth. the very man who, unbeknownst to Regan's father, is the leader of a secretly building resistance movement. And suddenly, discovering the key to her dormant powers becomes vital. For only through telepathy can the rebels hope to overcome their cruel telepathic overlords.

5.0 out of 5 stars A captivating, character-driven , fun fantasy/romance., November 30, 1997

This review is from: The Rebel Prince (Paperback)
A classic Sharon Green tale of self-discovery, challenge, and romance. Regan is a intelligent, talented woman who is an outcast from her family BECAUSE of her strenths. She is betrayed, and becomes her father's political pawn. Eventually, overcoming difficult odds, she finds true love with a wonderful man, and learns to value herself and her unique gifts. It's an easy book to read over and over again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably one of Sharon Green's best!, September 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Rebel Prince (Paperback)
Sharon Green seems prone to long series, but this book was perfect. Gareth might not have been the most realistically done male, but Regan is next to Tamrissa, my favourite Green heroine. She is talented, realistic, and convincably vulnerable. But that's to be expected. This story is the perfect kind of sweet, not being mushy or sigh like but the kind of thing that just makes you put it down and say 'that's the best book I've ever read!'

I agree w/ the reviewer who said this was one of Sharon Green's best. I am so glad that her books have been "re-published" in digital format, both because I intend on re-reading (and re-ordering) some of her older books from the 80's as well as reading those I've never read before. This was a great story and I really miss authors like Sharon Green. After reading this book, I immediately ordered more digital copies.
