4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fun aerial combat game
I was having a great time playing this game. My eleven-year old son took over and blew through about three levels in fifteen minutes, however. The flight dynamics are cartoonish, jet aircraft that manuever like WWI biplanes. The graphics are excellent. I thought it was a fun game, my son, who plays more games than I do, thought it was a little on the simple side.

1.0 out of 5 stars This game is mediocre at its best
This is an arcade futuristic jet warfare game for the PS2. The controls are simple and the game is extremely easy. I beat this game in a night and never played it again, there is no replay value. It is suitable for little kids or older folks who might not play many games. If you know the Ace Combat series and you like games like that, you will find this one a waste of...

Your the top gun here. and there is no stopping you from killing all bad guys. good guys in blue and bad in red. great overall game but weapons could be a little better and guns to reload could be better. you run out and have to reload a lot. and missions are pretty good. but ground stuff is hard to kill. but ok. in fact great cheats is tungha in profile name and then opens most everything. still fun game to play. my favorite high flying game is still. heatseeker. ps2 this is 2nd best. hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Rebel Raiders is nothing to get to excited over. This game is, as th epackage describes,"Arcade Combat at Mach 2." The controls are extremley simple and the story line is not very detailed. I will say it is fun to flashback to the days of the game room in the pizza parlor, bu this isn't one that I would buy again. It's to futuristic and unrealistic for me(you can run straight into a mountian and survive, youre health is refilled by each kill, and you reload your weapons in mid air)... but if you are into the arcade type games you might enjoy this.

If its an involved, more realistic, and air combat game you want, go for the Ace Combat series, I know Ace Combat 0 and Ace combat 5 are awsome and highly involved.

Oh, and I would suggest buying used, I got mine for 1 penny +S&H, and I would certianly say that the game is not worth the$14.99 asked for it when new.

4.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating at times, but never enough to dampen the fun., February 17, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk (Video Game)
I should be upfront and tell you that this isn't really much of a flight simulator, unless you have a very liberal definition of what 'simulators' are meant to do.

That said, it's a riveting arcade game with very enjoyable gameplay that kept me, at least, entertained for hours on end. The controls feel a bit unusual at first, and even after getting more or less comfortable with them, I still made the occasional slip-up, but I would attribute that more to my own fast pace than to any real problem with the controls.

I was highly amused at some of the scenes purported to be 'inspired' by science fiction movies, but the designs of nearly all of the aircraft are interesting and attractive, making the visual presentation fairly appealing.

All in all, this isn't a game that you should sit down to play with the expectation that it will be a tribute to the fantastic Ace Combat series, because as a flight sim, it falls almost pathetically short of what could be considered the industry standard. But as an arcade game and as a way to spend some time with an entertaining challenge, it's definitely a solid title.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lame Game, April 25, 2009
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars

It took a very long time for my son to get used to controlling the ship. It's very hard to fly (very sensitive) and though the terrain looks pretty cool, this game plays very poorly.

This game is too hard for a 10 year old, which must be why the rating was changed from 10+ to 12+. You get unlimited weapons, but one of the planes is almost impossible to shoot down. It should probably be rated Teen.

3.0 out of 5 stars good game, December 28, 2006
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk (Video Game)
First let me start with a note.....I purchase the playstation 2 for my nieces and nephew. After reading about 900 negative reviews on about ALL of the playstation 2 games. I thought, why the crap did I purchase this game? Well, here is the thing ignore all negative reviews and read what the game is about from the review and use that for your evaluation for purchase. People, do not leave a negative review because you have no life. Get one, play games for a couple of hours, and leave a great review. You need to tell your kids to get of the couch and get a life outside playing games. Maybe mow a yard or something?

Now for the review, the game is pretty simple, push a button and shoot a missle and blow crap out of the sky. Pretty straight forward. But I like simple games, so I have beat the first three levels in about 6 hours. HAHA! in over a week people, I do have a life. So I consider it a great game for people who are older or younger who do not want to spend the first 6 hours learning the controls and figure out the plot, etc.

But over all, it is a great WWI like game and the graphics are great.
