This is an amazing collection of stories and songs, that gives a good sampling of the history of the working people. The songs call for solidarity among working people, that is as relevant today as it was when the songs were originally written. The music provides a feeling of being connected, and makes you want to sing along. No matter what your interest, but especially if it's the history of the labor movement, this is a wonderful and thought-provoking collection of music.

The album has been on my CD player for the last two days. I have had no desire to listen to anything else. The music comes from an age when Unions changed things, and make you feel it could happen again

"Rebel Voices: An IWW Anthology" by Joyce Kornbluh. Excellent history of the Wobblies written in the 60s, still in print and available on Amazon.

When Unions changed our country for the better (Do you like your 8 hour day and 40 hour week?).

Good stuff but I wish there was a broader base of performers.

If you like this you should love "Talking Union" by the Almanac Singers. Also, read Pete Seeger's biography for a sense of the '30s & '40s from a performer's perspective. "Big Trouble" is a fantastic read for a view of Unions around the turn of the last Century.

Music has a special place in labor history, the Internationale, Joe Hill, and the Union Made. It's especially important for the IWW which seems full of songs, both of protest and of triumph. This is a CD that reminds us of the history of the labor movement in America, and highlights the special role of the IWW in that history.
