5.0 out of 5 stars R.I.P. FORD (SELDOM BROUGHT A PRISONER BACK ALIVE), May 3, 2009

This review is from: Rebellious Ranger: Rip Ford and the Old Southwest (Paperback)
John Salmon Ford came to Texas in 1836 to be involved in the affairs of Texas. He lived a long life dying in 1897. During those long years Ford had been many things: a physician, an adjutant to Colonel Hays' regiment of Texas Rangers during the Mexican War, a newspaper editor, an explorer, surveyor, state senator, mayor, and ever a city marshal in Austin.

He helped get Texas into the Union and then years later, helped take her out into the Confederacy. He was a 'true' Texan and loved his state living most of his life in her service. His greatest talent was as a "trouble shooter" and in that his talent was great. Ole Rip "Rest in Peace" Ford was quite a character with many abilities.

This book represents really the first biography of the man allowing full glimpse of his 'colorful and adventurous life'. Since he was a man full of life so to is his biography.

Semper Fi.
