Whether you love straight ahead blue note jazz or contempary fusion with funk. This CD is off the preverbal chain...a must have if you love jazz/music. Rayford has done Jean-Luc Ponty, George Duke, Bradford Marsalis, Stanely Clarke, Lenny White, very proud!! I have over 2,500 Cd's and this is already one of my all-time favorites. BUY IT, DOWNLOAD IT...JUST GET IT!!!

I knew Rayford was a fine drummer but the totality of fine production, incredible players and tasteful writing makes this CD move to the top spot in my collection. On the first note of the first song he catches the "essence" of Cool and never lets go. This is an album for all serious listeners that just happens to have a wonderful drummer on it. When Rayford does cut loose a little here and there it is extremely tasteful and his Tama Starclassic Maple Drums sound beautiful and huge. I reiterate that this is not just another drummer's album. It is an album for any serious listener. I can not recommend it strongly enough.

THIS IS THE FIRST SOLO RELEASE OF RAYFORD GRIFFIN WHO IS A VERY
TALENTED DRUMMER.I SAW HIM MANY YEARS AGO PLAYING ON TOUR WITH JEAN LUC PONTY AND HE WAS GREAT.HE HAS HIT A HOME RUN WITH THIS CD AND I HOPE IT LEADS TO ANOTHER RELEASE.THE PRODUCTION VALUES ARE VERY HIGH AND THE MUSIC GOES FROM THE VERY SMOOTH TITLE TRACK TO SOME VERY HIGH ENERGY FUSION TUNES.I HAVE ALMOST WORN THIS OUT AND I HAVE ONLY HAD IT A MONTH.HE HAS SOME GREAT PLAYERS WITH HIM ON THIS ONE FROM STANLEY CLARKE,GEORGE DUKE,HIS BROTHER REGGIE AND DWIGHT SILLS.THE OTHER INTERESTING THING IS RAYFORD'S SINGING WHICH HE DOES WITH EQUAL APLOMB.THIS HAS NOT HIT THE MAINSTREAM BUT HE HAS HIS FINGER ON THE PULSE OF WHAT REALLY BELONGS THERE WITH THIS RECORDING.I URGE ALL THOSE WHO APPRECIATE QUALITY MUSIC TO PICK THIS UP AND PROMOTE A VERY TALENTED MUSICIAN.MY HAT'S OFF TO RAYFORD AND HIS FELLOW MUSICIANS.ENJOY THE JOURNEY.

Absolutely one of the BEST CDs in my collection. Stays in rotation. Some great playing, solos, stellar production, and Griffin is in total command here. Quite an array of writing, and every song stands alone. This is serious chill Contempo Jazz at it's best. And Rayford's all up "in the pocket"!

Rayford has to be one of the best drummers touring today. If you get a chance to see him perform it will be memorable. This cd is well put together and does not have a bad song on it. I hope he puts out another one soon.
