4.0 out of 5 stars The seventh and biggest effort, but not entirely the best
In the seventh installment of the groundbreaking compilation album from Island Records, Patrick Forge and Trevor Wyatt has once again brought together some of the best artistes from the avant-garde music scene and put them in one handy briefcase of both danceable and relaxing songs. 2.0 out of 5 stars Get it for the first track at least...
I'm serious. Abstract Truth did quite a remix for "get another plan". Superb sounds...music that pushes you farther. Put this track in, get on the highway, and floor it! You won't be dissapointed. As far as the other go....well, frankly, it's a shame really you start out such a good cd and then blow it on the rest of the tracks. They just didn't hit it for me. Too...

This review is from: Rebirth of Cool, Vol. 7 (UK Series) (Audio CD)
In the seventh installment of the groundbreaking compilation album from Island Records, Patrick Forge and Trevor Wyatt has once again brought together some of the best artistes from the avant-garde music scene and put them in one handy briefcase of both danceable and relaxing songs. Starts of with `Get Another Plan' by Abstract Truth with lush horns and sultry vocals but it shifts gears immediately and jumps into Ian O'Brien's `Monkey Jazz', some sort of a thinking man's dance tune. Throughout the compilation, we see the likes of jazz, drum`n'bass , house, techno and garage. However, the 2-CD effort was a bit too much for my liking when they could've made things juicier by compacting the cream of the crop into one CD. Nevertheless, with saving graces like Roni Size's `Ballet Dance' and `African Elation' by Dean Fraser, Rebirth Of Cool 7 gets all the accolades it deserves.

How much better can it get?
I owned a couple of other CDs in this series when I decided to make it my mission to own all of them. Found this one, sadly without any track samples or anything else to describe the content a little bit more. But having been extremely pleased with my former purchases I made bold and ordered it.
Can't even describe my delight when I received this CD. First of all, it's a double, which just about made me jump up and down, and the music on both discs is absolutely astounding. I listened to the whole thing three times on the evening it arrived.
Not a single bad or even mediocre track in the entire series and I can't think of higher praise than that. It's the kind of stuff artists on the current "popular" scene should be listening to if they want to get an idea of what's *really* good!

Too repetitive, nothing new, not very dancable, some cases just annoying....it wasn't worth it. But hey, go to amazon uk or de and see if you can listen to the whole cd and decide for yourself.
