Though perhaps not the deepest, nor the most original story ever to hit the board, it does offer the reader some truly enjoyable moments. 2.0 out of 5 stars Too much fan service...
I've read volume 1-9 of this manga, and I have to say I'm immensely disappointed. This series had so much potential. C'mon, vampire finding humanity, love, then having ripped away, and years later, trying to rebuild these things... Great B-movie occult premise.

But the amount of gratuitous fan service is ridiculous! Let me state beforehand: I'm not adverse to...

4.0 out of 5 stars Smashing, April 12, 2005
This review is from: Rebirth, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
Though perhaps not the deepest, nor the most original story ever to hit the board, it does offer the reader some truly enjoyable moments. The style that is was drawn in is far from the normal, instead it reminds me something of how you would see the classic Street Fighter characters (i.e. broad shoulder and muscled for the men, while buxom for the ladies). At first I couldn't say that I particularly cared for the style, but it does grow on you. As for the story itself it is quite good. Plenty of action, twist and surprises with a good splash oh humor to keep the audience happy. I have to say my favorite thing about the series (I have read 1-8) is the extra at the end where Woo talks to his reader. The stories are amusing. I like the Rebirth series and would recommend it to any who enjoy vampires, sorcerers and action....there's even a bit of a love story thrown in ;).

4.0 out of 5 stars An Otaku's Review, August 30, 2004

I cant agree with either side of the arguement on this one. There are some who say it is horrible, while others say it the the best thing they have seen in a while. As for me, i will give you my opinion. I have read the currently released volumes (1-9) and i like this series. The start of it is slow, very little story. But around the 5th volume, the story picks up. YOu get more plot twists in this one than a shojo manga (that is alot). The saveing grace is that unlike some "angry hero" types, Deshwitat (the vampire) has a reason to be that way. And haveing his girlfriend killed by his best friend is just the tip of the iceberg. I say if you have the money to spare, pick up this manga. It is no masterpice in the manga world, but it is worth looking into.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Beginning of an Awesome Series!!!!!, March 26, 2003

I just started reading Manga a short while ago. I've been reading the "Ragnarok" series of manwha since I started reading graphic novels. I was spotted this series, and picked up the first volume. It seems like besides "Akira" there aren't many "great" stories coming out Japan, since "Ragnarok" and "Rebirth" are both Korean. After reading this first volume, I can't wait to read the next volumes. The artwork is spectacular, with tons of action and humor thrown in. The storyline is somewhat confusing in the very beginning, but after you read a little more, it becomes very engrossing and interesting. If you like beautiful artwork (not the little-kid type of Sailor Moon or Chomps), I definately recommend getting this series. It won't let you down!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Read It, Love It!, January 4, 2004

This series is really a great series. The artwork is beautiful, and the story has so many turns. The characters have so much depth, usually not found for characters other than the main character. The first book does a great job with introducing the story. My only problem with the series so far is that book 2 and 3 were a little flat, but that's it. This series is one of my favorites!

I read Volumes 1-4 of this series, and I think it's really awesome. The drawing style is excellent, and unique! And it's also pretty gripping, can't put it down.

Great graphics, as well as a very intriguing story line. I can't wait to see what happens next. If you love vampires, here's one more that you'll love to hate.

5.0 out of 5 stars How has this not been made into an Anime yet?, September 27, 2010

This manga has got to be one of the best manga's I have read, mainly because the whole story really draws you into reading more and more about each character. The manga is pretty much a combination of Inuyasha and B*stard, with the main character being an Anti-hero type, though you gotta really read through the manga to understand why, and as the volumes progress, so does the manga in terms of how good it gets. Believe me, this is worth the money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much fan service..., February 20, 2008
By

I've read volume 1-9 of this manga, and I have to say I'm immensely disappointed. This series had so much potential. C'mon, vampire finding humanity, love, then having ripped away, and years later, trying to rebuild these things... Great B-movie occult premise.

But the amount of gratuitous fan service is ridiculous! Let me state beforehand: I'm not adverse to fan service. DOA? Bring it on. Miniskirts and bare midriffs? Hell yeah. I'm no prude, which shows how lame it gets in this manga.

Take Millenear. She's clergy, and she wears a thong teddy. Or in one of the issues where Desh gets wounded and rips off a girl's skirt (also a type of Battle-Nun) to dress his wound when he could've just as easily taken a sleeve, (which would've fit with the "I'm not gonna hurt you, I'm just bleeding, mortal" theme there) or part of his pant leg.

When a manga meets or exceeds 6-8 panty/ridiculous cleavage shots an issue, it gets tiresome.

But, my rant is over. You want cute girls with just enough fanservice? Check out CLAMP's XXXholic.
