Book Description

"In Reboot Your Life, I want to offer the very best and latest material on 'life-design', goal-setting, gratitude, and personal productivity in a workbook/ toolkit format for practical people, without much time. The book has the best of David Allen and Steven Covey in concise, daily exercises." (Paul Gibbons)

Reboot Your Life is a 12-day process for reflecting on where you are in life, on clearing out aspects that don't work, on designing your mission and vision, creating goals, and learning strategies for realizing those goals with the latest productivity strategies. Each day has a few minutes reading, but then practical exercises and tools to get you quickly into action. "Reboot" is the same process used by life-coaches who charge thousands of dollars, but after completing the process, you will be your own greatest coach.

What have people said about the Reboot process
“I do Reboot religiously every year. I spring into January on fire and reconnected to my passion and dreams.” (Management Consultant, London)

“I used to have big inspiring dreams in my twenties, but as I became more successful, I lost track of the big picture and felt as if I were going through the motions. After Reboot , life feels exactly as it did in my twenties.” (Senior partner, KPMG)

“Since working through that process, my life has never been the same, and I’ve never looked back.” (Senior IT Director)

“Just the vision- and goal-setting process was worth its weight in gold.” (Entrepreneur, Madison, Wisconsin)

“The transitions of the last two years were really hard, especially coming one after another. I needed a fresh start, and working through the process gave me much more value than I expected.” (Director, Public Relations)

“I had a lot of great things in my life, but I still woke up some days thinking ‘What’s the point?’ I needed to reconnect with the big picture: why I was on the planet, what I cared about, and what I was doing to do about that.” (CEO, Leadership Consultancy)

Reboot Your Life's author, Paul Gibbons, was named 'CEO super coach' by CEO magazine for his work with dozens of CEOs. He has been an entrepreneur, management consultant, investment banker and university lecturer over his 30 year career.

Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

What you will get out of reading this book
Nothing. Not a thing.

But if you do the 3 minutes of daily reading and do the 30 or so minutes of daily exercises for twelve days, you will get astonishing results.
Some of those will be:
1)    Clarity on what you care most about and how to make time for that
2)    Reconnecting with your passion and purpose
3)    Learn to use your natural creativity in all areas of your life
4)     A life spring clean--getting rid of unwanted baggage
5)    Knowing how to realize goals, not just set them
6)    Much better personal organization
7)    Enhanced productivity and time management
8)    Peace of mind and lots less stress

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, practical, substantiated help. December 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a clear-headed, empirical walk through the steps and techniques of changing yourself, your life and your attitudes. The author is sharp, empathetic and scientifically literate, and distills enormous practical wisdom in a few short pages. As one of the editorial reviews said, practicing the techniques and exercises provides the real value.

This is a book I intend to revisit at those junctures when things are either too uncomfortable or too comfortable.

Paul Gibbons is a qualified Master Coach. After working for thirty years in banking, consulting, and academia he has become a recognized leader in guiding companies to deliver strategy through leadership development and culture change. He has worked with Credit Suisse First Boston, PricewaterhouseCoopers, as both an expert on strategy and risk management and as a member of PwC's global Innovation Think Tank, and finally as a leader in their culture change practice. He formed his own consulting firm that helped clients such as Shell, BP, HSBC, Barclays, Cadbury, and KPMG. Paul's writing here focuses on the application of neuroscience, behavioral economics, and philosophy to create business breakthroughs.

Reboot is a 12 day process:
Day 0 - Getting ready
Day1 - Domains of your success
Day3 - The runway
Day 4 -Clearing the rung and the runway
Day5 - An attitude of gratitude
Day 6 - Your mission in life
Day7- Your five-year vision
Day 8 - Setting inspiring goals
Day9 - Turning goals into projects
Day 10 - Turning projects into next actions
Day 11 - Deciding what to do when
Day 12 - Keep this going--for the rest of your life

As he state in his précis: Your Life is a 12-day process for reflecting on where you are in life, clearing out aspects that don't work, designing your mission and vision, creating goals, and learning strategies for realizing those goals with the latest productivity strategies. Each day has a few minutes reading, but then practical exercises and tools to get you quickly into action. "Reboot" is the same process used by life-coaches who charge thousands of dollars, but after completing the process, you will be your own greatest coach.'

Paul Gibbons' book is to the point, easy to apply, and endlessly helpful in just learning how to `reboot' our lives. Highly Recommended. Grady Harp, July 14

5.0 out of 5 stars Straightforward and packed with good stuff! December 30, 2013
Format:Paperback
I do a lot of planning and visioning exercises as a regular part of my business dealings, both with clients and as it relates to my own personal and business growth goals. So when I picked this up I expected a good refresher with maybe a couple of take-aways. I ended up getting a lot more from that -- it really packed quite a solid punch for a short, easy to digest book.

Paul lays out a great little 12 day program that takes you right from the "what do I want to do with my life" through to nailing down the specific projects and action plans that will help you deliver on your mission, vision, and goals. What I found unique and very useful for this book is that instead of just getting you to goal setting, it takes you the next couple of steps through to detailing out actual projects (a subset of goals) and then into specific action planning (as subsets to projects). I haven't ever seen it laid out as concisely and completely as Paul does it here.

In my own case, after a quick read, it inspired me to get on with revisiting and tightening up my own mission and vision statements, and then buckle down and put together some specific 2014 projects and accompanying action plans. That's quite a bit more "punch" than I expected... and well worth the investment in the book and the reading time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What I Needed January 30, 2014
By michael
Format:Kindle Edition
My mother is a known Business and Life Coach with incredible methods on goals and self-action. She has given me a lot of direction and helped expand my horizon using similar tools to what Paul has in this book. I also was using sites of similar nature to design my goals. What Paul takes even further than figuring out just what I want to do with my self, he helps me explore my goals and take put them into action in a way I didn't think something new could.

I'm a sucker for clear and concise when reading and learning from self-help/goal books. He does an excellent job with those. Thanks Paul

5.0 out of 5 stars An Expert Coach with a Tried and Trusted Approach January 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"Reboot Your Life" offers a simple, tried and tested approach to reconnecting with one's inner purpose and passion while instilling a disciplined implementation of goals. The only thing that could make it any better would be an injection of humour and lightheartedness, but this is a book for those who take life seriously :-) Paul Gibbons is also a master coach, who applies his lifetime of experience to make this book essential for anyone ready to take their lives to the next level....

5.0 out of 5 stars Paul does it again! January 12, 2014
By Willow
Format:Paperback
I have a bit of an unfair advantage in reading Paul's book, which is that I have followed his career for some years. This book is the culmination of years of work in helping people and organizations achieve their goals without working harder or faster. He brings a unique combination of competence and character to bear on this project and as always hits it out of the park.

I would recommend this to anyone seeking to bring clarity, focus, and graceful achievement to their life.

More About the Author

PAUL GIBBONS (from London, England) is passionate about science, and how science can be used to improve human flourishing. His writing and teaching "at the nexus of science, philosophy, and business" focuses on the application of the wider human sciences (not just psychology but philosophy, medicine, public health, mathematics, behavioral economics, and sociology) to business and business leadership.

He began his career by earning a degree in neurochemistry, followed by Masters-level study in International Economics and Finance. At 20, he moved to London as a "quant" derivatives trader, working at Salomon Brothers, Morgan Stanley, and First Boston. He eventually became Director of Eurobond Trading for the world's third largest bank. At 28, he resumed doctoral study in neuroscience, and then joined PwC as a strategist and expert on derivatives, advising on trading disasters such as Barings, National Westminster and Long-Term Capital. He then joined PwC's "Strategy, Innovation and Change" think-tank, developed its methodologies in change management, innovation and corporate transformation, and ran its board-level leadership development programs.

In 2001, Gibbons then founded his own firm, Future Considerations, which grew at 60% per annum under his leadership and still competes successfully for leadership development and culture change consulting engagements at top companies. After selling that firm, he joined the University of Wisconsin, Madison as a lecturer, while continuing to coach senior executives worldwide. In 2008, CEO Magazine named him one of two "CEO Super Coaches." He recently published Reboot Your Life: A 12-day Program for Ending Stress, Realizing Your Goals, and Being More Productive.

He lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, with his two sons, Conor and Luca.
