Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Greene, author of Hang Time, gives us the remarkable second chapter in the Michael Jordan story, beginning with the day Jordan's father was murdered and following him for two years through basketball arenas and minor-league baseball dugouts. Rebound is the story of a man who seemingly had everything the world could offer, and then, in pain, left it behind in an effort to rediscover who he once was, and who he wanted to be. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From AudioFile

This idolatrous biography tells the story of Michael Jordan's hiatus from basketball, a self-imposed exile inspired, at least in part, by the untimely death of his father. A fast-paced jazz score introduces the first side, and the text is briskly and clearly recited by the author. The voice, a slightly nasal, Midwestern tenor, is reverential, but narrow in range. Occasional gaps in the time line suggest artifacts of abridgment. The presentation is otherwise unadorned with music or sound, creating a workmanlike, but listenable, portrait, less telling, however, than the cover photograph by Annie Leibowitz. For the true fan, this tape provides insight into the psychology of a great athlete. J.W. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jordan Rulez!, December 24, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Rebound: The Odyssey of Michael Jordan (Paperback)
I am the biggest Jordan fan so this may be a little biased :) This book shows us a lot of the personal side of Michael Jordan. His thoughts, feelings, and frustrations. This book goes throught his baseball career and his return to basketball. It is funny, sad, and serious. I highly recommend it to any Jordan fan and to anyone else that wants to hear a facinating life story.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLANT BOOK!!!, October 12, 1999

This review is from: Rebound: The Odyssey of Michael Jordan (Paperback)
I am the biggest Michael Jordan fan in the world and I thoughtthat the book is great. Bob Greene is a great author, and I love theway he made this book. He wrote a little over half of the book talkingabout him playing baseball, and then the other half of the book when he returned to basketball. He gives you a lot of facts about him playing baseball, some that I didn't even know! Great book, I suggest you read it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Soso book, January 11, 2001

This review is from: Rebound: The Odyssey of Michael Jordan (Paperback)
It explored some issues, like is Jordan a ballhog, but not in depth. It is average quality. I wouldn't recommend it, but I wouldn't disparage it either.
